Stewardess comes to work on a bicycle

Post by Tjipke »

A stewardess of SN Brussels Airlines got a heavy sanction (blame) by her employer because she comes to the airport on a bicycle.

Read the article of "De Standaard"

Sorry, but only in Dutch !

De Standaard isn't the standard anymore. Unreliable source: they're only quoting one source.

I would suggest that the stewardess walks to work :)

It should be no longer than 15 minutes. When I worked at Sabena, I also wlaked the more than 1 km from Zaventem main station (not the one at the airport!)

Surely she can come to the airport on a Bike? I can't read French of Dutch, so I am only guessing but she could probably complain quite loudly about that!

Hello

I already find it a great thing that she does takes the bike , because probably many other people would take the bus or even the car to work , even if it's only that far. Ok , if it is really THAT worse that she is sweating hard if she arrives at work (ok , indeed it would be weird , because than she would need to drive really fast , since it is only 1km I think she want have a real problem leaving on time so...), but still , indeed , maybe she could take a shower there. And she might idd better leave the uniform at work. Would do the same if I would live THAT near to the airport. Could it be better???:)

But still , it is a nice prestation. Promotes the fitness of the personal. But of course , I can understand comments of both sides. But I believe there must be a good solution wich both parties approve.

Keep searching! ;)

Best regards: Yannick ;)

This is a social dispute, and not a question about coming to work on a bicycle,

as one can read in SNBA's press release.

sorry , I don't understand what you mean by a "social dispute" and since you haven't provided a link for the press release I can't read that either - please explain :?

News articles could be a reliable source for us, if both parties are mentionned. In this case, the journalist from De Standaard hasn't mentionned SNBA's press release in his/her article. This makes the story unreliable.

We've only found out about SNBA press release because somebody has posted it. If you read that statement, you will have to admit that SNBA is no anti-bicycle company at all. Next conclusion is that this is not about a bicycle story.

I cannot understand why the media are paying attention to this! Many other companies encounter such problems every day, still SNBA has to be in the newspaper with it. If SNBA thinks her uniform is not tidy enough to start her duty, and if that really is that way, in my opinion they are right to make a remark. No issue of making someone go to work by car. Why don't they spend more attention on the board of SN, there's much movement there at the moment !
