"Rival American manufacturer Boeing, which has decided not to build its own supersized jet to replace its aging 747 jumbo, has claimed the programme will never make money."
Whatever, they are building a 747Adv...
I think the A380 won't make a lot in its early years for sure, it is not so high volume like the mid-size 330/340.. However this is something iconic, and the world needs something like this, there are so many 747s out there which will need replacement some time, and it is down to whether Airbus can upgrade their A380 quick enough to beat the 747Adv.. Also I really hope the A350 will be undeway soon..

I think there is still some time until we see another super sonic commercial aircraft...
Its development and manufacturing cost are just so high due to the different physics you get flying above Mach1, and with today's technologies, can it fly more efficiently than normal jets?
I read before that the next 'new' aircraft design for commercial jets will be shapes like the B2 bomber, flying below Mach1 but much much much more efficiently...

According to this article it looks like the delays may be a little longer than expected,

Look, of all the novelties announced by Seattle, we have only read about the cancellation of the Sonic Cruiser, and a report that they will not make a competitor of the A380. In the mean time they make a plastic plane (B787) marketing it as state of the art and looking on pictures much different than the first production parts .
