This morning I was already at 8 am at Hangar 117. No problem finding a parking spot at that time. There were only 4 people in front of me at the entrance. I met Merijn and SN690 and Apuneger there.
At 9 am there was already a long que behind us.
When I walked inside I immediatelly went inside the A319 OO-SSM.
I met after a while also our one and only Bart"luchtzak" and his wife Emmy.
I didn't take a flight. I'm afraid of flying
I talked to some pilots and FA's.
Here some pics

OO-SSM before the crowd entered.

Bart"luchtzak" giving a explanation of the nitrogin filled tyre to SN690.

Luchtzak and Apuneger.

MD-11 ( look athe T-shirt )
with a poster I got from Bart "luchtzak" and Bart with a drawing he got from me. Now I just need to find that job
.

An Avro during C-check. Note the unicef titles.

The Avros engine.

Forward cargo hold of OO-SSM.

Bart with realplaneshaveprops and another Bart. All three have an airport job, but no poster

Crew firefighting equipment.
A little bit after twelve I left since I have to go away this afternoon.
Family businness.
I wanted to stay longer but at least I saw what I wanted to see, and had a good time.

The opendoor was very nice, you got to see a lot of things you wouldn't see otherwise. The flight was great too with a free drink during it, near the coast it was a bit clouded so we had to descend to 1000 metres tio be able to see the coast-line, magnificent sight I must say. After the flight we received a flight certificate and some chocolates. Pity there was such a big queue at the A319 otherwise I would have visited it too....
I hope SN organises another opendoor day next year

Yeah it was very nice indeed. I only met MD-11.
I was there at around 10 o'clock, and no queue at the entrance at all, I could just walk in! What a difference with 2 years ago 8O
A friend of mine was there also, but he was taking a flight which was already full, so I couldn't join him, too bad
The queue for the A319 was way too long, so I didn't get in there.
Overall it was very nice, good organization. It was nice too touch an aircraft again, it has been a while

Hi everybody,
As you could already tell from one of 'MD-11''s photos, I also attended this year's SN Brussels Airlines' Open Door.
At around 8h15 I arrived at the entrance, where 15 or so people were already standing. A while later, 'Sabena 690' arrived and we met with 'MD-11'.
After waiting for 45 minutes, the doors finally opened around 9AM, with 2 or 300 people standing behind us. As soon as we got inside the hangar, I and 'Sabena 690' rushed to the ticketing desk to buy a ticket for SN1003, since somebody we know would be working as a f/a on that flight.
After we both got our tickets we rushed to the A319 (OO-SSM), where only 20 people or so were standing in line. After waiting 10 minutes we could enter the A319, but at the same time there was public announcement that we already had to go to the security check for the roundflight. So after a short visit to the flight deck and the cabin I rushed to the improvised but well-organised gate and I was checked by a customs/security agent.
Our aircraft was indeed Avro RJ100 OO-DWA. After engine startup we taxied to RWY20 and took off at around 10AM. After takeoff (which made some people clap their hands...)we made a right turn and we had a nice view of Brussels. Then we proceeded to Antwerp, Nicky, Helen and Costa. Drinks were served and we also got some chocolates. Between Ghent and the coastline we experienced some turbulence but after we descended to 2000ft we had an excellent view of the coast. After we past OST we proceeded to KOK, followed by a left turn to Kerky. Then we flew back to the city of Antwerp, turned right and at around 11AM we were fully established on the ILS for RWY 25R, with a BMI ERJ on finals for RWY 25L. Before we got out of the plane we all received a flight certificate.
After our flight, we met with some other enthusiasts, such as Luchtzak himself, MD-11er,...We had a chat, walked inside the hangar, had a drink, bought some things from the shop, etc.
At around 1PM the A319 was pushed out of the hangar and another Avro RJ100 (the one with Obelix on the fuselage) was pushed inside the hangar.
At around 1:30 we left the hangar and after driving 'Sabena 690' to the BRU terminal, I went home...
Good job SN BA! Thanks for all the efforts and for organising such an excellent Open Door!

Hello everybody,
I was there too and flew on SN 1005 (a birthday present
). The flight was operated by OO-DWK. It was quite a nice flight, with sunny weather in central Belgium but much of clouds near the coast. Together with me in the plane were Luchtzak-members Jordi and Robin Z (and probably some others too I haven't recognised). After landing (on 25R) I also received a flight certificate like Ivan told earlier.
I made several pics but still have to edit them. I also bought some gadgets like an Avro RJ model (1:144), 2 post cards and 3 posters. Thanks to SNBA for this nice event !
Regards, Robin Bamps.

I was there too , but as a passenger on TV503 from Lisbon (arrival at 13:52). Couldn´t get to the meeting though, since 2 friends lost their bags and we spent an hour at the flightcare bags services counter. We left the airport at 4pm.
PS : I will post a flight report of the LIS-BRU sector somewhere this week (will include pictures)
