AN124, about Kalitta Air: they've been on the IVW list "verscherpt toezicht" for quite a while (don't know how long), and trust you agree that is more then "some more inspections". Don't you agree "red alert" is a good translation?

http://www.ivw.nl/nl/actueel/verscherpt ... tstaan.jsp

Have to agree with you that these words might be better.
However in the same article as you quoted it's also said that this status no longer exist for Kalitta as they made improvements in their way of working.

Hi

Is the Silverback IN the Sabena Technics hangar?

If so , any chance they will remove it to the other side of the airport...like to Melsbroek or in front of the SNBA hangar? :P

Would be awsome , since we will pay a visit to the SNBA technics this year with school :D

Best regards: Yannick ;)

airports with lots of stranded/grounded broken or illegal aircrafts , don't attract much new airlines...they distract them...it just isn't good commercial.
I don't know how many you consider a lot but AMS and BRU seem to be doing fine despite their grounded aircraft

BTW Silverback is still wellcome in The Netherlands..
Now that was a joke no offense intended personaly i would hate having a graveyard airport but the way BRU has a few impounded aircraft now and it could keep growing in number untill it really is.
How many exactly?

BTW those in The Netherlands probably remember the good old ZAS B707 which was grounded at AMS back in the 80s due to severe maintenence issues (was grounded for years). Compared to that aircraft this one looks "new".

I don't understand why this airline is still welcome at AMS????
I saw this A/C and indeed 4 tyres out of limit + 3 brakes more then flush + fuel leaks all around (even just after exhaust of engine 4) + traces of oil in engine 4 under fan blades +.....
Just amazing......

Somebody knows that A/C is allready left BRU?
I saw it 3 weeks ago for the last time at the cargo places and then BCAA grounded the A/C.

Seriously doubt this DC8 will ever leave the airport in one piece.

Rumors spread fast but I guess your national authority already realized a few odd things:

# malfunctions not written in tech log
# 'no go' items disregarded
# some of the pilots not even type rated on DC8
# no Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority oversight on the operation

Silverjunk leased the aircraft at a rate that does not even cover normal maintenance costs which means that they probably have a few cents left in their pocket (no maintenance done, since too expensive) but they won't use it to get their aircraft back.

It's going nowhere.

Cut it into pieces, sell the aluminium and titanium, then the airport authority might get some money back for the parking fees.

...not very far from Marana you'll find Tucson. There's no point trying to develop a regional/international airport in Marana.

Get a map before making assumptions.

ADB now allowed into Belgium as 009 is in OST, they are still working on getting 073 out of BRU soonest!!

The aircraft is in excellent condition and therefore would not detract from attracting others to BRU!!

I'm not able to see the brakes wear witness but my bet is it's all the same!

Seb.

PS: What a pity you didn't took pictures of the logbook  ...
Euh ... on some of the brakes there where no brake wear pins anymore, because the brake pads are completely gone almost , normally we replace brakes when the wear pin is flush and the brake is already monitored as the wear pin is less than 5 mm.

I had a look in the tech logbook, and there is almost nothing noted after the flights, only when they write in the book brake or tire e.g. 3 worn , then they will replace it , but during daily inspections and normal planned maintenance, I suspect they only replace it when it is completely over the limits and even further.....

Could you please stop spreading rumours like banning SQ and CX cargo from Brussels.
As you already said this is a rumour and they generally don't havy any reliable source.

This is not only bad publicity for the airport but also for the airlines.
SQ is a very respected airline throughout the whole world just as CX.

And regarding to Kalitta, yes they had some extra inspection but things are cleared up around this airline and they are still permitted in every country, so also this is not true.

Admins: sorryfor going off topic but I think that these kind of rumours don't belong here.

Greetings,

I totally agree !

Bruspotter,

you should stick to the facts and ban gossip and 'rumours' from your comments.

thanks,

This afternoon, around 15H local, the aircraft was on the tarmac in front of the last hangar next to Abelag. The only thing I could see was that the flaps were down.

Today the aircraft was towed back in the hangar of Sabena Technics, only with it's tail out of it. I also saw some movements, so maybe the bird is under repair!

Can anybody confirm this?

Thanks for the update Ken.

I hope they are doing more than just cleaning it from the outside though ;)
