Contrail spotting

silverJET,

my telescope is pretty crap, it only cost £100 though.
this is it (click on PowerSeeker 76):

i can still see the airline logos on the aircraft but not the windows. ive only got 3 eyepieces (35x, 58x, and 175x magnification) and 1 barlow lens (3x magnification) but i can only use 2 of the eyepieces because the greater the magnification the harder it is to actually find the contrail.

can you read the registration number with yor scope

Okay guys, thx for telescoping, or should I say microscoping, the KAL 744. So, the missing number will probable be a three. I guess someone who digs into the ACARS will know the definite answer.

I too have a telescope, a refractor of 600mm, but it was in the cellar when this bird passed

Today, September 04, this JAL Cargo classic Jumbo was cruising to the South (Paris ?) at 1140 LT, a bit blurred by radiation.

the KAL B747/4 that you saw was the daily KAL flight to CDG.
From the Acars reports:
HL7494 (B747-4B5 KAL) 1708 20050825 KE0901 (ICN-CDG)

Below is also an easy airframe to recognize, cruising to the east on August 27, and it ain't a DHL plane .

Yesterday I've seen this plane passing over my house at +- 20h10 LT from east to west. I've no idea about the registration, but maybe here are people that may know the destination of this plane and the reg.

The first one of Bram would be a Delta 767.
And for the second one I would go for either a Air Atlanta Jumbo or a Polar Air Cargo one.

Hi folks!

Don't know about the second one. But I can't name the airline...lost the name...but it has that tail with all yellow alike circles...I don't think it call's 'Global Supply Systems' but something like that I would think....don't know for sure...looks TOO much yellow in the tail for a Air Atlanta...or am I wrong.

You know...could have done some contrailspotting too myself last days.But you'll see that...always when you are at those family parties or like fishing (:D:D) you see all those marvelous contrails. One good point about me...I don't trust aircrafts anymore...I always take my binoculars with me because I learned out of this situations in the past. So I also took my binoculars with me the last two days and yet some nice contrails could be seen. Check THIS out...(some I saw multiple times...also note (although not common for me

that no time is given and they aren't craniologically ordered))

And some other nice ones , either unrecognizably...I find there where extraordinary lot of contrails yesterday and a little less Saturday , but still more than usual...been a long time since I saw SOOOO many contrails.

About the JAL 747F. It might be the AMS-CDG-NRT flight , I once saw the JAL 74Y 'Silver bullet' climbing out (approx 8000m/24400ft) , so NO contrail , and very low speed. So I could see him nice long shining in the summer sun.

BTW : Since yesterday One year at luchtzak!!!! :dance: :kvole:

This could be JA8132. Left AMS at 1102 local with destination CDG.

Don't think so, as the engines are not painted in the same colors. Blue versus white.

For me personally its an Air Atlanta Cargo plane...

I also so this one the same day but I was just under(brussels watermaal).Very nice I could not see if it was a Cargo or Pax but it was
bizare to see a 747 classic with new JAL colors.

, this could explain the relative low cruising level = short hop, hense the lack of a contrail. Suprisingly U saw it too Lumumba, but it was indeed a bright star in the blue sky.

Also thanks to OO-JFP on KAL 744, so it was afterall "our" first guess.

I saw low cruising planes several times with MKA Jumbos, like this one taken on August 25 at 1431LT, flying to the West. I presume this is 9G-MKL on the ELLX-EBOS route?

Just again marvelous! God I really love those high altitude shots! Actually a whole different way of photographing but I think that if you have the right equipment it can be even pleasant as normal spotting? Only a little more calm/silent
