I've had many visits to Iceland, flown many domestic flights in Iceland, seen how Iceland has been ruined by increased tourism over the years, travelled through the country by bus, ridden the native breed of horse.

I want to go to Iceland from here (Belgium) but not with Icelandair (way too expensive). There is a Low-cost company (actually not that low-cost, but hey, it's better than Icelandair). It flies to CPH en London Stansted. Now the question: would anyone know how to fly the cheapest possible way? Was thinking RYR from CRL to Stansted, but in the return flight it doesn't fit. Any idea what the best sollution is?

If this airline flies from CPH, isn't there a cheap way of getting there from BRU? That might be the best option if FR to STN timings don't work out for you.

EBAW_Flyer: follow the promotions of FI from AMS, they often have steep fares, and not only to Iceland but especially transatlantic!

It must be possible to find Iceland for about 300-350 Euro on FI...

Fares ex-LHR and AMS are currently going from 400-450 Euro + tax (indeed very expensive).

As a regular JFK/Newark flyer I like the New York idea. I agree that SNBA should first take a codeshare agreement with AA. But if it works well (and I'm 100% confinced it will

) they should go with there own plane.

Yesterday I e-mailed to SNBA, asking if they were planning to go to Istanbul in the near future.
Today they answered me that they will open the destination later this year.

I hope they'll fly with their own planes to Istanbul, because they have enough code shares for the moment.

Well, that's good news again, indeed. But it will be tough to compete with Turkish Airlines on that route. Therefore, codesharing could be the best solution, and I'm afraid it would be on TK planes.

Sofia should be no problem, there are not so many flights from western europe to Sofia and nearly nothing between the "former" eastern european countries (meanwhile of course for this entering the EU next year the frequencies are high

).

I'm checking this currently, but I realised a few hours ago that I made a huge mistake in my posting.

I totally misinterpreted the Slovak Airlines information I got, and I'm afraid that SN will probably not put it's code on the flights of Slovak Airlines.

For the rest: I got an email from somebody within SN management who stated that also the Sofia info is wrong, although this comes out of a travel magazine. Maybe anybody knows what the problem with the information is?

Well, as I mentioned earlier, I did not find any mention of SN flights to Bratislava or Sofia in the OAG or Galileo.

Another surprise would have been to see only one weekly flight to Sofia. A LOT rep at GVA once told me that any destination needs at least one daily flight to justify the expenses of a sales rep, ground handling, etc. (that's why LOT abandoned GVA where it had only three weekly flights).

Don't be sad, Frederic, SN is still on an expansion mood and more destinations might come soon.

Just one comment demol: a commercial agreement means actually almost nothing. While SN and LH are concurrents, I believe they also have a commercial agreement (for example when the BRU-HAM of SN is cancellend, pax can go on the LH).

It just means you can book tickets on eachothers flights.

About the SNba flights to SOF.

This BRU-SOF service has been announced in the september edition of the leading Belgian 'Travel Magazine'.

In the Thomas Cook winterbrochure, this new charterservice is widely advertised, describing the seat pitch and quality inflight service on SNba's Avro's.
Flights are supposed to operate every saturday starting on 20 dec 2003 untill late march 2004.
There is even a full page of publicity (with an SNba Avro picture) in order to support this new link.

BUT, apparently SNba and Thomas Cook ended this agreement before the first flight even started. Thomas Cook is transfering his clients on FB now.
