Belgian Pilot fired by Fly Air, he was flying 'too safe'

A Belgian Pilot of Turkish 'Fly Air' was fired because he flew back to his departure airport Orly in Paris. Because another 'Fly Air' aircraft did an emergency landing in Budapest, the pilot decided not to take any risk. When he returned with the fixed aircraft, he got fired... Money won over safety in my eyes...

People who are chosing for safety don't seem much appreciated by this carrier

. We don't want anymore accidents and there should be more people such as this Belgian Pilot.

Possibly, but my source (Belgian National Television) was talking about Paris Orly. But if so, it seems quite normal to me the pilot returned. Strange story...

And the second article says the aircraft wasn't allowed to fly again, while our Belgian Pilot was fired after he returned with the aircraft.

It was indeed Paris Orly. For the persons wo can get access tot the printed version of Het Belang van Limburg will see that the original story is longer than the internet version. The pilot was from Limburg but now lives in Greece. He had 9 years experience with A300's, he previously flew for EAT. He can maybe restart flying for another Turkish Airline

IMO it's the same.
Crosscheck the date and informations in the first post and you have the same on the same time.

The article that I was talking about in the news: https://www.aviation24.be/article9937.html happened last wednesday. And the aircraft was able to fly to its home base (empty) that was not the case with the Saturday incident

Sad Sad Sad for the pilot I'm just wondering if he shouldn't just try to recycle himself to newer planes because I have a feeling that if he stick's with a300 for the future he will probably end up flying for very very unsafe companies!

More and more A300 are now operated in the cargo business.

Yes true I always forget the importance of Cargo! At the same time though most cargo airlines sell off their oldest planes! So in 10 years or smthing the a300 will be a very old plane i! Most of them then will indeed land in Africa!

Watched the dutch news at 7 and apparently fly air denies everything although they don't give an alternative explanation!

It's ridiculous!! i like safe pilots...

i don't know why this reminds me of some people critisizing the Swissair's pilot of SR-111, because they took time to evacuate the fuel. They were saying stupid things like "If the Pilot would was italian, he would have tried to land the plane without getting rid of the kerosene" ...

This pilot deserves a medailion of honour !

He risked (and lost...) even his job, because he was more concerned about the safety of his passengers !

According to the poll on www.piloten.be, most of the pilots find the financial aspect most important, even more important than the thrill of flying jetliners...

You have not only A300 B4, but also A300-600 or A310 (the newer generation also flown by a lot of cargo companies.
