He took a picture of a Saudi Arabian 747 Cargo in BRU. From the picture (see below) you can see that the top deck/bubble of the 747 has 2 windows visible and the rest covered. Does this mean the resting area for the Cargo staff is very small or that the fuselage paint has just covered those windows.
How much resting space do the staff typically have in 747 Cargo's and how many people work on board (including pilot)?
This is not a picture taken at BRU but OST. Saudi Arabian is flying with their B747 on OST and only with their MD11 they are coming to BRU.
Reason: they can fly with the B747 also at night. This is not allowed at BRU.
About the number of seats, persons on board. It depend, I know when we handled the aircrafts there is place for 12 people. But is doesn't mean that on every flight the seats are taken.
This is an opportunity to also ask something about the B747 cargo's upper deck.
On the passenger version, there are stairs to get up onto the upper deck but looking at pictures of cargo B747's, there seems to be no stairs.
So how does the crew get up there then? Do they have a rope, or winch or whatever to get up?
to be more specific....depends on the airline howmany seats they leave on the upper deck..mostly 8 to 12 ..2 windows basicly means 8 seats(4 left and 4 richt)and after those seat there is a seperate compartment with 3-4 beds for the crew to rest...this for long flts with a double crew
On the picture, the windows have been painted only, not removed. it's usual on freighters (see also ex-combis). Concerning the ladder, you can find other models. The CI ladder is LH oriented but you can find a rear oriented ladder on classic freighters.

Yes, the B747-400 SF will be able to carry one more pallet too.
Q: So why the CI B747-400 F got a sided ladder? Are all the newers -400 F like this, or is it the airline's choice?

The ladder you here is standard on all 747-400F. On the -200/-300 you face the nose cargo door when climbing the ladder. This type slides into each other (2 parts), and the -400 version bends together.
Both types are pushed upwards until in the locked position when required.
I've got a few days off now, but when back at work I will try to get some drawings or pictures of both types.
