Questions for spotting trip LUX/BRU/OST

Post by hroelz »

Hello!

I am planning a spotting+sightseeing trip to Luxembourg and Belgium in the beginning of September, probably 3.9.-10.9., "on the traces of MK DC-8s".
My planned stations are LUX, BRU and OST and I still have a few questions:

LUX:
I heard per rumour that Sunday is the best day at LUX. What can I expect then?
Pax schedule doesn't seem so terribly interesting to me at first sight, so any tips about what makes the Sunday so special?
Do some of MK's DC-8s make it to LUX, or only to OST?

BRU:
I looked through BRU's schedule and Wednesday seemed most interesting to me.
Is there a "spotter's hotel" or any other kind of convenient place to stay in the vicinity of the airport (not too expensive)?

OST:
Regarding OST, I have difficulties to find out the most interesting days at OST, as from their schedule I don't know which flights are regular and which are not, especially, you guess it, the DC-8 flights (MKA & AIN). Is there an overview of scheduled cargo operations at OST somewhere?
I heard of the hotel "te Kruishof", which is said to be situated near the main apron and a special tip for spotters. Is it this one here: http://www.kruishof.be/?

Any other special tips? I read Liege was good for night spotting only.

So many questions  I hope to get the answers here

Regards,
Hermann

Yes, that's the hotel.

On the picture below, you can see half the hotel on the top, in the middle.

This shot was taken from the parkinglot at that hotel ...

About the schedule at EBOS ... Unless you want the schedule of the TUB and FQ flights, there is no schedule. The only schedule at EBOS is the summer charters ... You can find that schedule here.

About the DC-8's ... If I am not mistaking, there is an DC-8-63 of MK Airlines that departs every Sunday morning, around 0800, but I don't know if that is every week or if it was just a coincidence that it did that a few weeks in a row. On a normal day we get at least 3 DC-8 movements.

Someone who can definatly give you more info ont the DC-8 flights is MKAirlines, also a local EBOS spotter.

If you got anymore questions, just ask !

MKA-108

Wednesday

MKA-118

Thursday

MKA-122

Friday

MKA-124

Saturday

The last couple of weeks there are days with no flights also

MK only has 2 DC8's operational for the moment

In the middle of the week there is also an MK flight arriving from Zaragoza

this is most of the time 9G-MKK

Every sunday morning there is flight WTA-015 departing early in the morning this is operated by 9G-MKN and this flight is arriving back the tuesday early in the morning

Hope this can help

Greetings,

Nico

Thanks for the info!

Kruishof is fullbooked, unluckily, but I had to expect that in the season. Any other tips where to stay at Oostende?

As far as I know thursdays are the best days for spotting at EBOS. At least until September 22.

Today is thursday and I see that for today 18 movements were/are announced.

That's the EBOS factor! Luck! Don't "plan" a visit to Ebos, just go!
