Alitalia Milan-Delhi
Does anyone have experience going business class on Alitalia from Milan to Delhi? I'll be flying in business class on Alitalia for the first time. I'll start my Alitalia business class experience from JFK on the 777-200, which I heard is really good, but from Milan Alitalia uses an old B767. Wanted to know if they upgraded the business class seats and stuff in the B767. The Alitalia website is not very helpful unless your flying in the 777-200.
thanks
thanks

The reason you haven't heard from desiguy2447 is because Desiguy2447's trip on Alitalia isn't till FEB 2006.
I did hear that Alitalia is installing new business class seats on the MD-11, and Boeing 767's. Hopefully the new seats will installed before I travel come FEB 2006. Then again this is Alitalia so one never knows

Don't complain about strikes (multiple), laconic behaving FA's, hard seats, cancelled tickets (I had it once with Alitalia. Just once, afterwards, I did everything to avoid Alitalia), broken luggage in Rome without compensation (same flight) , food poisoning (same flight, ending in hospital on a drip), just give it a name. Never again, never, you hear me loud and clear: never.
If you have flown hundreds of times with AI you are working for AI. So your opinion doesn't matter. If you have flown hundreds of times with AI and never had serious problems, well, it sounds so untrue. I don't want to insult you by saying you are lying. I just say it sounds untrue.
To all disbelievers: go to caio.co.uk or ciao.de or airlinequality and check out the reports about AI yourselves. If you are a real masochistic person: fly AI but take care to have a return ticket with another company. If you are lucky, your go flight will not depart because of a strike. If you were unlucky to fly somewhere on AI, well, you have the luck to go back on a real airline.
Advise: never fly somewhere where there is no alternative for AI.
Advise 2: to know the real ticket price for an AI flight, you have to add the price for a single ticket with another airline, at least 1 day hotel accomodation and a hospital bill because of food poisoning.
This is not funny. This is real.

I second md95 with his statement; of course there are always bad and good flights to experience.md95 wrote:Regi,
I think you need a good blessing because you've been very unlucky. I flew hundred of times with Alitalia and is a la par with all the other European airlines. Better than the Americans and worst than the Asians.
Regi, you've had a terrible experience and that's exposed in several topics already; but if this was the only AZ flight (not AI btw) you had, that's pure unluck.
Then you shouldn't pay to much attention to the heavy chauvinism on SN 8O (old and new one) in this forum; I wouldn't even dare to expose an objective opinion for the fear to be lynched.Regi wrote:If you have flown hundreds of times with AI you are working for AI. So your opinion doesn't matter.
There's no need to work for an airline to fly hundreds of times. I did it too and I often tried to avoid KL for AZ if I could.
Still I'm in favor AZ should get an euthanasia treatment and reborn healthly in some way. Not for their flying style or fleet or maintenance etc which is acceptable, but to clean up the politically covered mis-management which is the only outbreaking cancer, affecting and infecting top-down.
yes, I think you are right. I am not in favour to talk easely about thousands of people their income, just because my small personnal mishaps. I have to stay reasonable. You probably put the finger on the wound by pointing towards dark influences and bad managment as te deep cause of the problems. Quite similar to the Sabena disaster.
There could be a bright future for Alitalia. The italian diaspora is huge. The tourism market is big and the whole year around - look what Ryanair is doing to Treviso. The business connections are important. Italy is located on big international routes.
But Panam did also collapse.

I can only confirm what Regi has been saying. I have been fortunate enought to fly Alitalia a couple of times between BRU and FCO. Luckily, I was spared the foord poisoning. Then again, the meals were so bad I barely touched them. To this day, I still don't understand what they did to those salads.
Apart from that, I experienced many of the things Regi so accurately described: broken seats, uninterested flight crew, lousy service. It is definitely an airline I stay well clear of.

I do blame Alitalia for my food poisoning. I have been informed by the doctor who was accidentaly experienced in this matter that it had to do with keeping the food stuff not at the right temperature. I am no specialist but it has to do something with keeping it first too cold, and than defreeze it and it spoils very quickly. So, even the best caterer cannot avoid it if the airline doesn't handle the food appropriately.
If I follow your excuse we can go on like that: it is not the fault of the airline if they maintain their planes badly. It is not the fault of the airline if the personnal is not good. etcetera.
Look, as long as Alitalia doesn't go through a rebirth, you won't find me close to one of their planes.

I have my doubts, unperishable and packed maybe, but fresh or pre-cooked is generally loaded before flight and is not touched by FA's.regi wrote:the airline does handle the food when it is on board. it does handle the food longer than the caterer, certainly on long haul flights.
Moreover, if I remember well, your nightmare flight was originating in BKK. I might be wrong, but the chance that a catering worker overthere could be exposed to a parasitic and contagious desease is "slightly" higher than in our vicinity.
Rayman, I was not really honnest about my Alitalia flight: all these mishaps happened on a Brussels-Rome-Bangkok go and return flight. I meant not the same flight , I meant the same trip. So maybe I have been too harsh on them. Having a food poisoning, a cancelled ticket, broken luggage on 4 consecutive flights with Alitalia is not too bad after all, is it?
I was sick arriving in Bangkok. So don't blame the lack of hygene in Thailand. The doctor could even give me the time frame within hours when I had eaten on board, so specifically was the infection. Luckely enough the pattern was recognised and dealt with adequate medicines in a Thai hospital.
And using the word "handling" also confused our members. You are right, it is the groun handling staf that puts the chariots in the plane. But it are those lousy Alitalia people who didn't regulate the temperature of the food during flight so my feeding stock caused a "burned belly"
