Photo Prints - Your experiences, recommendations etc.

Post by Apuneger »

Hi everybody,

I don't know the workflow of all photographers over here, but I always make 10x15cm glossy prints of my photos so I can take a look at them while sitting down in the couch without having to take a laptop or whatever.

These last few years I've been using Fujiprint (http://www.fujiprint.be) for my printouts. However, my last series of printouts appear not to be as good as my first series of printouts. What I mean is, the photos appear to have slightly, but noticeable, more contrast, some prints suffer from a vague overall red tint (especially the white fuselages), and on many occasions there is a bright white halo around the aircraft, which tends to kind of ruin the photo.

I also tried Foto.com (http://www.foto.com). They charge less for their photos and the quality of the print is better. However, their photo paper is quite thinner and on many prints there is a faint but noticeable grey vertical bar which runs from top to bottom of the print, which spoils the print as well. I personally think this must have something to do with the machine these prints run through for printing the text 'www.foto.com' on the backside of the print.

Therefore I'm interested if anybody of you know a good photo service for ordering 10+15cm photo prints (online), services whose prints do not suffer from the problems mentioned above.

Greets,
Ivan

I used Extrafilm, very good service and quality. Especially the fact you can pay with an overschrijving, and do not need VISA.

Can you explain a bit more specific why the others weren't as good as photohall.be ie why it is much better according to you? I'd appreciate it.

I always use imagephoto.be, since they deliver to my work address which is very easy for me, also have better prices since our company has a deal with them...
Anyway, I am very happy with the prints, perfect quality...

White halos? I had this too one time but this was due to my own photoshop editing...

Simple.
I downloaded the same pictures (without correction) to several sites and i compared the results.
The very best was.... my photograph, but he will close his shop and was to expensive. Now that he is closing his shop, I let hem see the different results and he confirm me that the best was given by photohall.be (you can download but you have to go to the shop to pick up the final result).
The white colours where withe and the black was black. Imagephoto was not so sharp and with a dominant in colours.
Sorry for my english, but i normal speak french

i have never used anything else then Extrafilm. Cheap, easy (drops in your mailbox). Never pay in front, but only afterwards. And fast: within 2 days normally during non-vacation periods.

Can anyone give a reason why this thread is in this forum? Would it not be better placed in "Aviation Hobby" as it has only to do with equipment not content.

Perhaps it could be placed in aviation hobby.
But if you take pictures you share yous experiences in planespotting, why not the best printing method in the same forum?

Exactly my thought as well.

Anyway, thanks everybody for sharing your experiences with the rest of the Luchtzak community.

Other comments are of course still very much appreciated.
