IndiGo Air - One more airline from INDIA

Post by Advisor »

Due regards to Hon. Fons.

IndiGO Air not Go Airways. The former is promoted by IGT and the latter by the Wadias of Bombay Dyeing.

Interglobe Partners with Rakesh Gangwal to start DOMESTIC AIRLINE in INDIA

"IndiGo is the result of extensive analysis and planning by very experienced airline executives and we're convinced it will be a successful new player," Airbus CEO Noel Forgeard said.

What Airbus has released

 surprise 100-plane order from a brand-new Indian airline, IndiGo, accounted for most of the gap between the trans-Atlantic rivals after a fourth day of dealmaking at the world's biggest aerospace industry gathering.

InterGlobe Enterprises has a daunting India-focus with a network of 47 offices across 24 cities in India, and an impressive presence in the overseas market with offices in London, Johannesburg and Durban and representation in the USA and Dubai.

Interglobe The Company

Rakesh Gangwal, The Man in command at IndiGO Air

Please do not confuse with IndigoAir of America which is based in Teterboro,NJ and has scheduled services to Chicago with Dassault Falcon's. IATA Code is I9 and ICAO Code is IBU.

Travel group InterGlobe Enterprises Limited plans to launch IndiGo as a low-cost venture, entering the market in force with a nationwide network and a full fleet of jets.

Anybody  website of Indigo Air in India

Also i have heard that deliveries of IndiGo's planes will start late in 2006.

Indeed, dear Advisor, as I said elsewhere in the forum, time is needed to get the show on stage..
What I am curious about, is how the aircraft will reach the arena: what type of aircraft will come first. You said IndiGO, as I understood a contraction maybe of "India Go"? would be positioned as LCC -low cost carrier-.
I think it is not a mistake to project that huge numbers of Indians will be travelling in the coming years, so hi-volume aircraft will be in demand.
Do you have any indication of what is to be delivered in the first phase, because this project is unique by the quantity of the projected number of tractors.
On the other hand, base and stations maintenance have to follow the rhythm of arrival in the fleet. This brings me to the next question: With the projected volume, India's airports will not be able to coop with the handling: lots of equipment will be needed. What is, for so far you know, the attitude of the aeronautical and port authorities about handling companies? Will non-Indian bodies be allowed to compete on the market?

Yes Sir Fons the India is realising and yes i both agree and accept that now is the time to focus on ancillary growth and infrastructure development.

Some big corporate houses have already lobbied and are in the fray.

A lot of land is also being cleared in and around both Mumbai and Delhi airports if that is any indication

First phase announcements will be made on July 10th, 2005 from Interglobe Entp. So i guess its wait and watch till then

It’s very impressive that a new airline can make a +100 order! But at the same time I have to point out that they and Airbus is making such order to impress the market/costumers/press!

They might as well made an order for 20 frames + 80 options, but they went to sign for 100!
I am very much sure that they made a deal Airbus to only pay the “down payment” for only a few A320 and NOT 100!

JetBlue did a similar order as well, but they kept adding more and more orders and options so there are now getting near 200 frames!

They actually don’t say that right now! But it would not surprise me if they started with leased A320 soon before any aircrafts was delivered!

IndiGo acquires parking bays in Delhi, Mumbai airports

Post by Queenfisher »

THE soon to be launched IndiGo Airline, that caused a stir in the market with its order of 100 Airbus aircraft at the Paris air show, has been successful in acquiring parking bays for its aircraft in both Mumbai and Delhi.

Confirming the development, the Managing Director, InterGlobe Enterprises Ltd, Mr Rahul Bhatia, told Business Line that the airline had got three parking bays and was working towards getting some more.

How will they solve that inequation?

Indeed dear Advisor, I read somewhere CHAMPS was involved in the elaboration of plans for Mumbay and Delhi airports.
The C of CHAMPS comes from Changi, Singapore. These guys have experience in organising an very efficient airport in the city state, but will they be able to coop with the requirements of the biggest democracy in the world. The modus operandi in Singapore is totally different then lets say in N.America or the EU. Respect in Singapore is only fear for the powerful.
Let's hope India gets in this aeronautical epic influenced by the best of the world, because as it looks now it seems to be a matter of capitalist power.

Indeed, three is a start, and not enough. It gives the airline the possibility to have 3 departures every hour. Start @ six in the morning, and it will be easy to calculate the number of flights in and out....

Remark: with the increasing number of Indian registered aircraft, the slots and bays will get scarce .... and expensive. This is a contradiction for a low cost airline. How will they solve that inequation?
