A Condor 767 Captain on the way over the North Alantic talked over radio with his friend ,onboard a Company aircraft ahead, on his last flight before retiring.
As they relied on TCAS aircraft postion to identify each others position he took another a/c for his friend.
The Condor 767 approached what he tought was his friend flying a nice Thomas Cook colored aircraft. They were intially separated by a 1000ft vertically.
To make a nice picture he descended towards the TC colored a/c. It was down to 500ft away, untill the TCAS RA was activated at the other aircraft.
The other aircraft was not his friend but a boeing 767 belonging to the UK mother company Thomas Cook UK.
This resulted in a lot of problems afterwards with the possible consequencies that that Captain could be fired.
