CAL skids off runway

Post by 744rules »

A1037/03 - LLZ 05R U/S DUE TO CRASHED AIRPLANE 01 OCT 12:55 UNTIL 02 OCT 18:00 ESTIMATED

Hi guys,

I got the news at approx. 14h55. I immediately decided to head for LGG and take some pics. As soon as I can edit them, you'll see them here...

Chris,

It's probably too early to state an exact cause, but since some people heard two loud noises upon landing, it might have something to do with some exploding tires. Looking at the weather conditions, the wet runway might have something to do with this as well...

Greetings,
Ivan

Since a couple of months this livery is the "painted out" version of Cargo Air lines self.
Perhaps they knew of a comming "dirty ride" and wanted no publicity  .

Wherever they bought the paint the aircraft looks a bloody mess.

Apparantly the aircraft has been towed to the pax terminal building yesterday.

I'm not sure if the runway has been reopened, but I've been told that LGG won't be able to handle 747's at least until October 9th. The CAL 747 has hit so many underground cables and wires that a lot of the RWY infrastructure as well as communications have been destroyed...

I think DUS will have more traffic now. BRU got an ICL on thursday morning (in around 00.30/out around 07.15) loaded with +- 110T fruit and vegetables. Don't know if more flts will follow.
