A330 LTU in Troubles on 17/07/'05

I was about to leave @ DUS
when an A330 from LTU took off.
Suddenly I heard a loud noise ...
and when I saw, I saw the A330 his engine number 2
on fire ...
and struggling to get up !!!
It where some scary moments for the passengers and spotters,
who where @ DUS

it's really strange to see a plane so modern like the A330 blow up their engine but it's possible

I think it was a fault from a mecanic ...
becouse an hour before she took off she
was pushed to the LTU techniks hangar @ DUS
so I think someone overthere might made a fault ... I hope i'm wrong ...

Last monday 11th of july I came back from New York JFK with LTU A333 D-AERF. An airbus that is normally used for european destinations. Because the day before an olympic airways plane had hit an LTU A332 with a winglet, both planes were stranded at JFK.
So they had to use D-AERF for the flights to and from JFK, but those planes are not equipped for those transatlantic flights. Even no seats for first class. So it seems LTU is running out of long haul planes. Maybe buy some extra A332 's

A330 was talking of in DUS for a flight to Bejing. One engine was hit by birds causing high engine vibritions and an initial tail pipe fire.
Crew shut down the engine and after no further problems elected to enter the holding for further investigation and ecam/checklist procedures.
When aircraft was below max landing weight they returned back to DUS for a normal 1 engine out landing.

What the JFK issue concerns: LTU A330 was parked on a nose in stand. Olympic A340 continued to taxi towards the LTU 330 on the narrow passage even when ATC advised that it wouldn´t work out if he continued.

It ended when the Olympic hit the horizontal stabelizer of the parked LTU.
A340 continued to Athens hours later with removed winglet leaving the LTU 330 grounded.

A bit of a bad week for LTU.

Its always the same, when something happen, always the pilots and the media blame the mechanics! Why the maintance always get the blame?

Things like that could well have been
a fault of a human ... buth now we now that
in this case it was a fault from a bird who
flew in the engine ...

This sounds like the olympic pilots are really being stupid. By the way, aren't they obliged to follow the directions of the ATC? If ATC says they don't fit, why the hell were they trying to pass the plane anyway? This is just strange of these pilots.

To be a bit more precise.
The LTU A330 had a technical problem after pushback. The parking brake wouldn´t release.
Olympic elected to push back after all and hit the horizontal stabelizer.

Dumm gelaufen.
