Air Deccan engineering base for Chennai

The Bangalore-based low cost airline, Air Deccan, will set up its main engineering base at the Chennai airport in the next 8 to 12 months with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) allotting 60,000 sq. ft. to construct an exclusive hangar.

Makes sense to have the engineering directly at the main base/airport.
With this new hangar/facilities there should be more capacities to grow
further !

Growth perspective is to handle and contain by channelising the growth of these new airlines by alloting them specific bases apart from Mumbai and Delhi like

Air Deccan is given Chennai.
Jet Airways is given Ahmedabad.
Kingfisher Airlines is given Bangalore.

These airlines will set up operational and engineering facilities at these following basis.

Ministry Of Civil Aviation, India is definately being bullish on the aviation growth in India.

Does Govt have to allot these or can airlines decide where they want the base to be??
