New Asian record for Spice Jet

Post by Queenfisher »

SpiceJet opened its reservation system today and received an overwhelming market response.

SpiceJet sold 37,348 tickets by end of day yesterday. This is the largest number of tickets sold by any airline in Asia on the first day of booking. SpiceJet introduced “Red Hot Special Fares” ranging from Rs.99 to Rs.799, as well as regular fares ranging from Rs. 699 to Rs. 6999. SpiceJet’s website www.spicejet.com received in excess of 5.4 million hits in the last 30 hours.

“I am astounded by the level of bookings yesterday. We took our first sale at 06:40 a.m. Tickets were sold not only in the “Red Hot Special Fares” category but also in the regular fares category. I find this amazing as we had no promotional efforts other then our press conference in the early afternoon announcing the airlines start up plans. Our systems and staff were overwhelmed with the volume of activity but they coped exceptionally well.”

“The response that we have received shows that there is a huge untapped travel market for air travel in India” adds Winders.

The proud CEO concluded by saying “We are confident that our business plan offering everyday great value and our focus on product delivery and quality guest service will be a winner and revolutionize Indian Air travel”

Spice Jet an overwhelming success

Post by Queenfisher »

In it’s first full two weeks of operation SpiceJet has achieved remarkable success.

“There is no doubt that the India air market is huge, if the price is right” states Mark Winders, CEO SpiceJet. We have had remarkable success in the last several weeks. Our flights are full. We have operated consistently with over a 95% seat load factor. While this overwhelming success put some strain on our new operations we are shaking out the initial teething problems. Remarkably our overall operating performance has been very good, no cancellations and over 91% of our flights have arrived at destination, within 15 minutes of the planned scheduled time.

“I am very proud that the SpiceJet team is delivering a high quality, great value product. They are coping extremely well with the huge passenger volumes and gaining more confidence everyday with the new processes and systems", adds Winders. “We are receiving great feedback from our guests. There is no doubt they appreciate our low fares and reliable friendly services.”

When it comes to travel, few destinations can match the excitement of Goans, especially if it’s a good holiday offer. This world class tourist destination will soon have a new flying option, that too at fares comparable to that of 2nd Class AC tickets. SpiceJet, India’s latest low-cost, no-frills airline commences its operations today on the Delhi – Goa – Delhi and Goa – Mumbai – Goa routes with a Boeing 737-800 aircraft in an efficient all economy 189 seat configuration. SpiceJet Limited is the pioneer in providing low-cost and direct flight between Delhi and Goa.

The Spicy Fares of SpiceJet for Delhi – Goa – Delhi ranges between Rs. 2399 to Rs. 6799 and for Goa – Mumbai – Goa ranges between Rs. 899 to Rs. 2399. On the very first day of opening its reservations, SpiceJet received an overwhelming market response. SpiceJet sold 37,348 tickets in a day which is the largest number of tickets ever sold by any airline in Asia on the first day of their booking with 6,308 seats on the Goa route alone.

Mr. Ajay Singh, Director, SpiceJet Limited, said, “Goa is among the premier holiday & leisure hubs in India and is attracting a growing number of domestic tourists. We intend to catalyse this process with an unbeatable value proposition.”

SpiceJet will be a low-fare, no-frills airline that aims to make air travel accessible to everyone. SpiceJet is not just about low fares. With new generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft, cutting edge technology and professional management, it promises to deliver comfortable and consistent on-time performance.

“In a price sensitive market like Goa; we can only win customer confidence by reducing prices without compromising on quality and reliability. We are confident that our low fares will create a new segment of air travellers who will discover the real joys of holidaying in Goa”, added Mr. Ajay Singh, Director, SpiceJet Limited.

SpiceJet Tops in Load Factor

Post by Queenfisher »

Although SpiceJet only has a small fleet of 3 aircrafts, it has proved to be the highest load factor among various low-cost airlines presently operating in India.
Statistics filed with The Directorate-General of Civil Aviation exhibited that Spice Jet had a load factor of almost 93% followed by Air Deccan with 81%and Jet Airways 75%. Kingfisher Air, Air Sahara and Indian Airlines followed with 72%, 71% and 64% respectively. Director of SpiceJet, Ajay Singh said that it was their emphasis on "Safe Travel, On Time Travel And On Reasonable Cost", which had attracted the passengers to their airline in just two months of their operations and this popularity had led the airline for listing of its equity.
