Wait and see. About all Paramaribo stuff, first wait and see.
Last year there was also an announcement that they could start in a week or two with flights to Paramaribo. PS: it's was not the airline like this one in the topic.
Second, their is for the moment no travelagency in Belgium who offers holidays or what ever to Paramaribo. So, could it be that everything would be arranged in Holland and the flights started in Belgium. It looks strange to me.
So, wait untill July 1. If it is effective I will stange my point of view

In short, confirmation of the flights as of Friday 1 July with a B762 of Eritrean. SIVA is based in The Hague (NL). Tickets for the first flight at €399, therefater €499 in Y, €799 in C.
The first flight is on a Friday, thereafter weekly flights on Tuesdays.
SIVA has a web site, also exclusively in Dutch, where all the information provided by member 'themole' is confirmed: http://www.sivaworld.nl/

Very strange way of working if you ask me. So they have no bound with Zaventem at all. They use the airport and for the rest nothing. Everything will be arranged in Holland. Isn't it also not strange that they don't have the permittance to organize flights from Amsterdam to Paramaribo instead of Brussels??? In that way KLM and SLM can keep their high prices.
It's like organizing flights to all the African destinations that SN served, you create a new carrier in Londen for example and you bring all your passengers to Heathrow and there they start their journey.
Do you now how many busses you need to transport all those people.
I have my doubts about this.

it is not that strange. it is because of the bilateral agreements between countries. AMS-BRU-AMS is still exclusively for KLM/SLM, but for BRU they can give the traffic rights to someone else as well. The reason you don't see advertisements is that this completely based on ethnic traffic from Holland. There have been similar projects in the past like ITA (Inter Tropical Aviation who flew with Citybird MD11). they als flew BRU-PBM-BRU for traffic rights, but had a 100% pax load from Holland. Same almost started with LTU earlier in the year who were supposed to start flying DUS-PBM-DUS, also with pax from Holland. A lot people trying to avoid traffic rights problems by not operatin AMS-PBM-AMS so they have to look for alternatives....
As mentioned before, this isn't strange. Citybird the same and there are others who attempted the same (the latest attempt was to hite a LTU A330 and fly the pax out of DUS, this folded when the company didn't have enoug EUR to pay for the A330).Isn't it also not strange that they don't have the permittance to organize flights from Amsterdam to Paramaribo instead of Brussels???
Currently only SLM and KLM are allowed to have scheduled service ex AMS. Next to the scheduled service only charters are allowed but the restriction is that they're only allowed to sell 25 (or 50 I'm not sure) seats per flight for those who haven't booked an IT package. As the majority of the business is seat only, it's not economically interesting to do charters ex AMS. Next year a second Dutch and Surinam airline is allowed to have scheduled flights ex AMS, untill then the BRU detour is necessary.
Furthermore if the price is right. most pax won't mind the detour.
BTW I somewhat feel sorry for the customs officials at BRU as they're going to be very busy with this flight. Although i shouldn't generalize i fear that this new route will be very ingteresting for the drugs smugglers as unlike the SLM and KLM this flight won't be subjected to the checks at PBM.

Did anyone notice that we you try to book a ticket online, that you are redirected to the website of Air St. Maarten?sn26567 wrote:http://www.sivaworld.nl/

Above the promo banner on the Air St. Maarten website. It leads to the partner in crime for this project, namely the British company Fly South Ltd. Apparently Düsseldorf Airport was the primary choice to operate to/from, but for slot allocation reasons they altered it to Brussels Zaventem Airport. Dutch pax will apparently be bussed to Brussels from Amsterdam Schiphol - Utrecht - Rotterdam - Apeldoorn and Arnhem. The website even displays the new schedules as of the second week of operation. Operations will take place every Tuesday, except the inaugural flight as already stated above.
The outbound schedule : BRU-PBM dep 10h00 LT and arr. 14h00 LT
The inbound schedule : PBM-BRU dep 16h00 LT and 08h00 LT arr. next day.
When I saw the timetable for today I saw no flight from Brussels to Paramaribo. Or can it be because this is the "promotion" flight that it will be not displayed. But I can not believe it because they departed with pax so BIAC has to announce this as a normal flight.
Second: in this topic some people mentioned different hours: some departing at 15H LT, the last one 10h LT, this is why I'm so sceptic. Nobody nows it correctly.

Forgive me for being somewhat sceptical, but how certain is the fact that they start???? We've seen similar "postponements" in the past only to discover that the whole thing was a scam. Delaying your initial flight untill July 12th sounds a little bit late if they intend to make any money. The inaugural flight is postponed until Friday the 12th of July.

Correct. My agenda tells me it's a Tuesday too. Hence, this is how it was communicated by the SIVA sales team located in Rijswijk, The Netherlands. It was even confirmed by the SIVA headquarters in Paramaribo, better known as CIT. The info was distributed on several (intranet) airline management message boards, and now even publicly on their website.SN30952 wrote:Of what year?themole wrote:The inaugural flight is postponed until Friday the 12th of July.![]()
In my agenda JUL 12, 2005 is a Tuesday....
They probably mixed up the days of operation. The postponed inaugural flight was scheduled on a Friday, but regular operations will take place on Tuesdays. So the inaugural flight will probably take place on Tuesday the 12th of July. Let me emphasize the word ... probably.
Don't shoot the messenger.
Ruby Tuesday
I didn't calculatedly shoot on the messenger. It happened just to be a Tuesday. (François Truffaut was the one who said: Shoot the Piano Player (Tirez sur le Pianiste)themole wrote:Don't shoot the messenger.
Tuesday is such an odd day, I can't immediately find a song or a movie with that day.... Now I'm writing this, 'Ruby Tuesday' by Rolling Stones comes to my mind...
Jagger sang:
Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you...

Ladies and gentlemen,
The SIVA inaugural flight has been postponed once again, this time until Tuesday the 19th of July. The flights of Friday the 1st of July and Tuesday the 5th of July were cancelled due to the fact that the Eritrean Airlines B762 ER went technical.
In the meantime a conflict over money (what else?) arose between SIVA and Eritrean Airlines, resulting in an immediate discontinuation of their intended cooperation. This also resulted in the cancellation of the upcoming inaugural flight on Tuesday the 12th of July, as a new ad-hoc chartered aircraft or permanent airline partner was not yet found.
Undoubtedly, to be continued ...

Anyway, lately it has been more http://www.trektopgeenzak.be than anything else. That's what you get when quantity becomes more important than quality. Again, don't shoot the messenger here. I am merely telling it like it is, just ask the members who have been around for years. I am sure the administrators know who those core members are. First they had a financial dispute with LTU and now with Eritrean. Maybe Star Air from Jordan has a L1011 available for lease........
BTW I don't understand why anyone books tickets with these companies. As mentioned before, we've seen enough of these touroperators before and none of them were very reliable.
