Isn't the A318 a little big for LCY?

I found on http://www.flug-revue.rotor.com/FRTypen/FRA318.htm that the take off distance for the A318 1350 m – 1400 m is, but the runway available in LCY is only 1,199m (3,933ft)

yes, I wouldn't think the A318 could land there. I'd love to see some embraer at LCY!

Yeah but isn't city bound to be closed one day?

I mean fair enough it's ideally located right next to canary wharf and the doomed millenium dome ;) but one day there is bound to be an accident and/or people complaining.

ok there is a market but I reckon business people won't be to hurt if they have to go to heathrow or gatwick. Fair enough waste of time but rn't most people used to commute when they go somewhere (brussels is more or less an exception to this rule)

Anyways thanks Koen for these useful infos.

LCY has only started operations in the early 90's, and the aproach is mostly over bussiness areas. They allso close 24h in the weekend.

They won't close it just yet.

Oh should have checked my facts Buzz!

Also forgot that the london docklands light underground will stop there in the near future!

Still though to me it's like installing an airport in the european district of brussels!

a bit silly...

Hello,

About the Rotodyne, it was famous for its noise I think.

It could be funny to see the reaction of neighbors

I don't dare to imagine a Rotodyne at Zaventem

Regards

the rotodyne never became popular. airlines prefered fixed wing!

yes, it was a kind of very noisy. This was caused by the jets at the blade tips. The rotor was driven by air (the jets at the blade tips).
