A vote is now underway on a narrowly drafted measure that would block any funding for the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. (PBGC) to “enforce or implement” a recent settlement agreement between United and the federal agency.
Rep. George Miller, D-Cal., said the purpose of the amendment was to get United back to the bargaining table with its unions and work out an alternative to terminating its pension plans.
