Aviation Industry Must Unite on Climate Change

The first item of business here is to recognize airplanes are part of the solution
to climate change. By leaving bureaucrats in charge of aviation systems producing
these abysmal results, the aviation industry shows it has turned its
back on an unsavory aspect of aviation perhaps thinking the
bureaucrats had everything under control:

Obviously, they don't.

The second item of business is thoughtfully and thoroughly to consider
this letter, just sent out to a publication featured on the first page of
GoogleNews today with more bad news on climate change:



The US Forest Service, in co-operation with Canada's Smokey Bears,
have continued to reject, for no good reason, the most powerful
firefighting aircraft the world has ever seen.

While some burning is natural, billions are spent on suppression and
in poor nations with no suppression, the burning continues relatively
unabated. Seems to your writer, pooling money for some firefighting
should be within wealthy nations' means.

Emissions numbers are all there at our links. On the aircraft, you may wish to

its own links.

Lately, Canadian foresters have taken a step in the right direction by
informing us a lot of greenhouse gases come off their fires. Check this

It has been discussed on Luchtzak before, but then there were mixed responses and it was proven too costly to even try out the same.

I hear that there is some EU regulation on the cards too that will take come into effect in 2007.

Anyone know about that !

One quick and cheap way to reduce emmisions is to stop subsidising lame duck airlines.
Both the US & EU are spending fortunes keeping them afloat, then want to tax the others to reduce emissions!
