Hi,
My boss, who's also an aviation enthusiast, just gave me another assignment to check my 'sources' :
Last weekend, he says he saw a jumbo flying quite low over his house (somewhere between Mechelen and Leuven), lower than usual. The jumbo was also making some hectic turns it appears. He said that it looked like as if it came from the Northsea or so.
Maybe he just saw a normal cargo plane doing some weir vectoring before catching the localizer or so, I don't know, but does anybody of you know anything more about a 747 making unusual turns/flying lower than usual last weekend?
Thanks in advance,
Ivan

Ivan,
just checked the database and found following (cargo) flts
hyc603-701 zsoos 1157-2115
cx001-002 bhme 1438-1620
sq7998 9vsfi 1457-1630
sq7895 9vsfe 1642-1905
all times are local
the only thing I can think of is a runway switch. All above flts used 25r for landing, except sq7895 who used 20.
Hope this helps

Sunday afternoon, around 4 PM planes changed landings from RWY 25L and R to RWY20. In that case they fly over Muizen ( with gear already down ). Muizen is a small village in the vicinity of Mechelen on the road to Leuven. When it's stormy weather and RWY 20 is in use the planes are even lower. The exersiceterrain of our drivingschool is there and it's nice to practice maneuvers when planes are landing on RWY20.
