glider boys and girls having some fun with their Flarm transmitter
If FLARM allows/enables that kind of frolics I'll warn against it more than ever.
A D-Hxxx would be a helicopter anyway, wouldn't it?

Don't think that whatever they did, has any impact on FLARM's main purpose: collision avoidance.
And you're right, it once was a legit heli callsign

After the many diversions yesterday, AMS has a new problem today: a fire alert in the train station, which remained closed for several hours to all train traffic...

Talking about Amsterdam Airport...

Image

This very nice HiFly A340 did positioning flight AB107P from Berlin TXL to AMS this afternoon. Safe landing, but engine n°2 has hit an aviobridge during taxiing at Amsterdam. There is some damage to the cowling, and outgoing OR-341 is now delayed from 16h45 till 08h00.

Nice indeed but could it be that again, again and again the VDGS didn't pick up properly the incoming because of its dark colour?
OO-SNB Rackham, Royal Jordanian, City Bird back in the days ....

What I don't get is that "normally" if the docking guidance system does not obtain a proper image it displays an error message so that the pilot stops short and a marshaller is called in to guide into the stand.

I should have added the source - it's this forum:

There are photos from the damage - hope someone posts them there.

The HiFly A340 was called in because the scheduled aircraft, a TUIfly (ex-Arkefly) 787-8, was grounded at AMS for an unplanned engine replacement.

A second replacement = an Air Tanker A330-200 (U.K.) will now fly to the Dominican on Tuesday.

Minor damage, if any, to OO-HSK when it was hit by an ambulance on the parking of a supermarket in Eernegem. The ambulance was driving to the parked heli with a patient, when the ambulance driver was blinded by the sun. The ambulance apparently has hit the rotor.

Abusive Trump supporter is banned for life from Delta

Delta Air Lines has apologized for failing to eject a Donald Trump supporter from one of its flights after he yelled at other passengers, calling some of the women on the plane "Hillary b - - - - - s."

The airline says he'll never be allowed to fly Delta again, and that it's refunding every passenger on that flight the full price of their tickets.

The unnamed passenger was on a flight from Atlanta headed to Allentown, PA, last Tuesday night when he was captured on a video that has since gone viral. More than 2.2 million have viewed it since it was posted on Facebook.

"Donald Trump, baby," he shouts while standing in the aisle, clapping his hands above his head.
"That's right, this man knows what's up," he said pointing to one passenger. "We got some Hillary b - - - - - s on here?" "Donald Trump is your president, every God damn one of you," he says at the end of the 45-second video. "If you don't like it, too bad."

Source: CNN

I wanted to post the video, but YouTube seems to have replaced it by ads for airlines. However, it can be seen in this article: http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/real ... ntown.html

Sadly, yet another case of a fatal stowaway:

A dead body was found on Wednesday 30th November in the wheel well of a Arik Air A330-200 after it landed at Johannesburg International Airport, South Africa, arriving from Lagos, Nigeria.

Violeta Bulc, EU Commissioner for Transport, asks airlines to follow the good example by European airports with their "water at 1 €". Some carriers like Easyjet, Ryanair and Eurowings nowadays charge 2,5 to 3 € and the EU-Commissioner urges them to sell it cheaper.

Another one of those remarkable report on Aviation Herald:
http://avherald.com/h?article=4a1ae8c4&opt=0

Partial copy/paste:

A Norwegian Air Shuttle Boeing 737-800 from Kristiansand to Oslo (Norway) entered Kristiansand's runway 04, began to accelerate for takeoff, the crew rejected takeoff at low speed and stopped the aircraft after about 230 meters. The aircraft remained in position for about 5 minutes, then accelerated for takeoff again and departed. The aircraft stopped the climb at FL150 and continued to Oslo for a landing without further incident about 40 minutes later.
...
On Nov 14th 2016 a source told The Aviation Herald, that the crew received a takeoff configuration warning and rejected takeoff shutting down both engines, which caused all electrics to shut down as well including cabin lighting. While the flight crew was restarting the engines, cabin crew walked the aisles to calm passengers, the flight attendants expected another call by the crew to take their seats prior to takeoff, however, suddenly - with cabin crew still around the cabin in the aisles - the engines accelerated for takeoff and the aircraft departed with the cabin crew rushing to their seats.
...
About 4-5 minutes after becoming airborne an alarm could be heard from the flight deck, the aircraft levelled off and the alarm became even easier to hear. The flight attendants decided to check the cockpit to make sure the pilots were awake, all flight attendants detected there was something wrong with the cabin pressure. Upon calling the flight deck there was no response, cabin crew attempted to enter the cockpit using the emergency code, while the code was entered the first officer responded and opened the door, however did not provide any information as to what was happening. Cabin crew decided to connect their oxygen masks to the portable oxygen bottles. The passengers noticed something was wrong. Finally it emerged they were about to land in Oslo in about 9 minutes, the cabin was cleared for landing, the flight crew called the cabin crew to take their seats for landing and the aircraft landed. After landing cabin crew insisted the flight crew would explain to the passengers what had happened, however, the announcement was unclear just mentioning a wrong switch.
