Re: TUI Aviation in 2023

At the top of the CRL base before covid there were 4 aircraft based. Sunweb and Corendon are not only operating in Holland but in belgium as well. And they are taking a bigger part of the cake year after year. Travel agencies in Belgium and in every other country are closing the one after the other...

Re: TUI Aviation in 2023

No this is TUI fly Belgium which is weakening. 1 Boeing 787 less, 767 gone, closure of CRL base (4 aircraft), closure of all Algerian flight, just keeping Alger and Oran, 5th 737max gone to TUI fly in Germany. Just 3 embraer instead of 4, etc etc There was only 1 AC left in CRL, not 4. A 5th 737 MA...

Re: TUI Aviation in 2023

Actually no, the market is not weaker than before, but the offer and the demand changed. For the offer, the time since TUI had a casi-monopol is gone. New player are growing in the market. Sunweb, Corendon etc. For the demand, the time when people was going to a travel agency to book their travel i...

Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2023

Gazet van Antwerpen reports that the duty roster was already planned/published when he files the request. https://www.gva.be/cnt/dmf20231223_96100168 An employee can take his parental leave in published/planned roster. That's Belgian law. Whether it is a reason to close the tower or not is another ...

Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2023

Today, 17-19h local time: strike at Brussels Tower due to illegal refusal of management to allow an employee to take his birth leave (20 days). Is that for arrivals/departures ? or above 24,000 feet ? as in both sectors, there is still activity. And no delayed flights, as far as I can see. Above 24...

Re: TUI Aviation in 2023

TuiFly should maybe think about collaborating with Air Belgium for some Caribean destinations Their only 787 has quite often problems and the news that several hundreds of passengers are blocked for days with poor or no information is simply unprofessional. Very bad publicity. What do you mean by &...

Update on the possible volcanic eruption in Iceland: Today on RÚV English Radio, why you shouldn't worry about any forthcoming trips to Iceland. There is still a lot of uncertainty about where, or whether, any volcanic eruption may take place on the Reykjanes Peninsula. One thing that can be said th...

Re: Trivia 2023 (miscellaneous news)

Thanks, Lux_avi, for a rather constructive post, if we except the criticism against a member of the news team. Criticism? Lux pointed out your article was plain wrong, you then insisted you were right on the basis of notam which was totally unrelated and even now, iso just admitting you were wrong,...

Re: Trivia 2023 (miscellaneous news)

Poor and unsensational "remark" at its best. Kristín Jónsdóttir, head of department at the Icelandic Meteorological Office, suggests that people will need to remain in suspense for the next few days to witness how events unfold. The stakes are high, as authorities fear they might have as ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023

Everywhere you have to work harder, more, being flexible for the same money. Just to make it clear to people what ’everywhere’ means: for the average Belgian it means a physical working place ’at home’ to commuting 1hr to a big city. For the world of aviation it means chosing between Zaventem, Char...

Would you like to compare the working conditions between SN cabin crew and LH, KLM, AF, BA…?

When you don’t know, there are two options; inform yourself or just don’t talk (to remain polite).

Erm, most people look for a route and do not really care which airline flies it.

Btw, the merge has not been approved yet.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

We're speaking Airbus here, not Boeing. Remember United receiving its first A321neo in October? The aircraft spent 3 weeks on the ground in Houston before its first flight. It all depends on the things you want to install or have in the aircraft. Remember TUI receiving 3x E2's as well? ;) I'm just ...

That still doesn't really explain the 4 weeks timeframe IMHO.
TUI never took that long between the 1st commercial flight and the delivery of its brand new planes. That includes new types under the very slow BCAA.
