Re: Ukraine crisis 2022 affecting civilian aviation

I assume that planes rented from Russian companies will not be recovered and will be considered lost. Is there insurance for lessor aircraft manufacturers that covers this type of risk, in this case war? Typically every risk is insurable until it is not. War may be an exception, but this is not an ...

Re: Ukraine crisis 2022 affecting civilian aviation

RA-96019, Russian Government Ilyushin Il-96-300, on her way to IAD Washington. Maybe to collect Russian diplomats there? Likely usual diplomatic traffic (personnel, goods...) that may have gone over commercial flights before. The Russian diplomats expelled earlier this week were all at the UN in NYC.

Re: Ukraine crisis 2022 affecting civilian aviation

Airbridgecargo a/c arent registered in russia, i wonder how it will work for them I think no plane from Russia will be allowed to fly from there. Question is how you define a "plane from Russia." As Acid-drop pointed out, registration is not very useful. Even Aeroflot operates planes on n...

Re: BRU Summer 2022: news, new routes, airlines

Of course I see the logic in that. But it's only flying from one hub to another. I would prefer more flights to other destinations pre-corona. Those are still not in place. They prefer more to add a plane to fly to their own hubs... afaik Brussels Airlines has not reactivated its entire fleet yet s...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Repainting an A320x costs approx. $50-60,000 per American Airlines. Deadheading a crew is a marginal cost by comparison. If the goal was to maximize savings, Brussels Airlines would schedule the next aircraft to be painted on the evening BRU-LHR, then ferry the plane empty to EMA overnight, and bri...

Re: Anomalies in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2021

United 998 BRU-EWR on December 27 will depart 2 hours late and make a stop in BOS for a crew change. Passengers will stay on to EWR. Due to COVID-related issues, the crew is not legal to file BRU-EWR non-stop. Very strange decision. Why would a crew be allowed to fly BRU-BOS but not BRU-EWR? What h...

SN does not fly today to ROB/FNA, and not exactly in the same area over Africa, but what do you think about having a "AirBelgium241" and a "BeeLine241" on the same freq .... ? As long as the call signs are sufficiently separate having the same flight number is OK. In either case...

450 seats in a 777? Don't count on me aboard! Mixed bag.... Small premium cabins, large coach cabin make up for a high passenger count overall. Also, coach has a shorter pitch than most, including Air France's Caribbean 777s - but the same as United's. On the other hand, Premium Economy and Busines...

Belgian would have been a better name... and indeed, why let the b go... this was appealing and strong : b l’île Brussels, Belgium, b xxx, etc... The vast majority of Belgians will know the name of "their" national airline even if it rebranded to Air Uluru. Brussels Airlines' brand is mor...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2021

Totally incredible. And utterly shameful. While many former employees are having to find their way in a new walk of life, and Belgian taxpayers are waiting for the refund of their (already unacceptable) 250M+ funding, this mediocre company finds no better way to spend our (not its) money than to de...

American Airlines will receive in 2023 the new A321XLR. They will fly from several American cities such as Philadelphia, Boston, Charlotte and Chicago to thinner secondary European airports. Re: Anomalies in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2021

Ok but normally they do a straight go around I presume. I don’t know the pax on board but they must have been frightened by the short turn. I live nearby and never saw a plane do this manoeuvre. If traffic permits, this is perfectly possible and more (fuel+time) efficient than a standard go-around....

Re: Anomalies in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2021

Air Belgium 132 ATL-LGG on Aug 28 diverted JFK after holding several minutes above ACY. Diversion to JFK is certainly not coincidental to the airport having the largest inventory of A330 spares on the East Coast save ATL.
