Air Belgium in 2023

Air Belgium in 2018 Air Belgium in 2019 Air Belgium in 2020 Air Belgium in 2021 Air Belgium in 2022 LAX and or SFR are logical destinations with stable markets, strong currencies and great potential of US and European citizens travelling both ways. (assuming SFR is a typo - closed anyway - but coul...

Re: Air Belgium in 2022

Air Belgium is currently operating a flight for Air Madagasacar between Paris Cdg and Antananarivo with an A330-200 OE-LCL. I don't know if it's for a long period because Air Madagascar no longer uses its A340s for its long haul flights (since covid crisis). Kinda hope it is a one-off last-minute r...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

Yesterday I saw fences around this soviet-building with the message "we are redeveloping this area"... What are they waiting for? (we are curious) ;) I saw a similar sign on the way to pick up a rental, was it last week or maybe ten years ago? I can't recall but one thing i know is I won'...

Re: Air Belgium in 2022

But I was already surprise that their A332F is leased to Emirates. This means that also that plane was for them unemployed. That's a jump too far. Each source of revenue comes with its own risk-reward balance. Companies settle for lower revenue in exchange for a lower level of risk to the revenue a...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Why not beginning by the A320 which still is in EW colors ? Often livery updates and maintenance go hand-in-hand. Less disruptive from a network scheduling perspective to take an aircraft out of service for paint and C/D checks together - even if done at separate facilities - than scheduling two do...

And in this particular case "move" means relocate at one's expense to another city with a Ryanair base with no assistance, financial or otherwise, from the airline.

Re: Air Belgium in 2022

So what? All the Brussels Airlines aircraft are leased from foreign companies and still registered in Belgium. Nobody cares where the planes are registered. Shareholders will care if they loose months with planes grounded due to paperwork though. If you had written "passengers do not care"...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2022

Unfortunately for Brussels Airlines, everything that could help it become a larger competitor in the connecting market is lined up on the wrong side: its brand, management, and ownership, the airport, and local politicians. You have forgotten a group of wrongdo-ers in your list: employees going on ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2022

What do you think? Correct analysis? For the first half, I do agree with your conclusion. Brussels Airlines has a small home market with significant overlaps from larger airports. That forces the airline to compete in every segment (premium, eco, low-cost) and it would be difficult for any airline ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2022

Quite unrealistic imho... We saw what happened in 2002, airlines flooded BRU to channel local pax on their own flights from neighbouring airports, international flights will crumble, Africa ops will go to CDG, FRA or AMS. Some small TATL operations will remain with UA flying smaller equipment,... T...

have made connections where I had to pick up my luggage and check it in again. Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

With the localisation of BRU being the most western hub of the Lufthansa group and the fact that US pre-clearance will be done at BRU. I hope Lufthansa will see the oportunity to use BRU as a hub for US ops Within two years, Lufthansa should be able to outfit a handful of A321LR with a long-haul bu...

Re: BRU Summer 2022: news, new routes, airlines

The shareholding may be an answer, less anxious/pushy to get a return on investment in the short term for Air Belgum, younger/leaner company has a smaller cost base, business customers want multiple frequencies and convenient schedules, leisure customers want cheap fares first. Also, when an airline...

So O/D for CPT alone can fill 1.5 flights a week. Maybe 3x weekly for JNB/CPT is doable if they capture most of the demand and create new one. Definitely a leisure route though. Biz travelers will prefer KLM's daily flight.

Yakutia plans to restore the airworthiness of its SSJ100 fleet to replace foreign-made aircraft. In this regard, it is necessary to create a maintenance centre for the SSJ100 with the creation of a reserve of spare parts and consumables. Which would require access to sanctioned foreign parts, so th...

TUI already has the Max 8 and 787-8 on property and an outstanding order for the Max 10. They're not going to consider Airbus to replace 4 767s.

Reception at the loft told me that the closure is permanent(!) but all pax. are welcome in the LOFT, as long as they keep track of time. ...
