Today, December 29th 2005, Charleroi airport had again to close because of fog. It's the 8th time (!!) in 3 months. 4 planes landed in Liège. Rest was canceled (no take off). Ryanair announced a few times ago that they will expand in charleroi, with new destinations ... but this will increase the nu...

There is a very big italian community in Liège (and in other cities in belgium, like charleroi, or some in Limburg) but from this italian community, many of them are from sicily. So i guess it's good for everybody :)

I think brussels will suffer more than charleroi. Flights from charleroi are usually much cheaper and everybody tend to know that. I think that those people who like cheap flights are the people who didnt travel before because it was too expensive, so those people want as cheap as possible, no matte...

Very good news :)

I hope they will have the new terminal very soon. The current is way too small for that :)

it's a small news, but a good news ... i hope it will work this time, not like the bulgarian airline a few months ago.

It's no secret that liege airport managment team have contacts with some companies, for both cargo (A380 expected) and low cost flights.

planes that took off before knowing they could not land in charleroi landed in liege. planes that knew it was impossible to land in charleroi _before_ take off were canceled. Means FR is only using LGG when its absolutely necessary and will not use LGG everytime there is fog for 100% flights. Why ? ...

Yes, also the (official) landing fees are exactly the same in CRL and LGG! I've put "official" under brackets, because THERE is mabe one reason to prefer the less equipped airport! I believe one other reason is given by the name: one is called Brussels-something and the other is called af...

They got what they paid for ... i dont like this. Ryanair gives the minimum, but when everything is ok, i'm quite happy with what I have. It's very nice for many people to travel for cheap. But i do think that a 45 min transfer by bus when it's foggy _should be_ part of the minimum service. It's som...

forced because they can take off, but they cannot land in charleroi :) (I think they finally did, late this afternoon (from LGG to CRL)) it seems clear that they didnt want to transfert all passengers from charleroi to liege. Dont know why though. As you said before, it's only 45 min by bus, and a v...

Liege is often receiving unexpected flights when it's foggy, thanks to its modern installation (ILS cat III i think).

Having said this and knowing very well the "politics" of Belgium .. I strongly suggest that the Flemish voters do what needs to be done.. Take full control of the BRU airport and separate from the rest of Belgium and become an independent nation.. Then all the disputes with Brussel etc.. ...

Well, ... actually, the railway network in belgium is quite good. And they are improving it. I know they are making a new connection between brussels airport and the line to leuven and liege (which is highspeed) ... this could connect liege airport and brussels aiport in like 40 min, both for humans...

And that's why some airports, coming out of nowhere, are becoming important. Many regional airports for low costs flights and also liege airport for cargo (already 9th european, and they are wishing to be 5th). Belgium is just as big as a big international city anyway. 50 km for antwerp and charlero...
