Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
BLL is also seasonal. I don't see any flights for the winter season. Wasn't the point of the leased aircraft so they could do thin routes as well? And not just in the summer season...or are there some other route plans in the works, not just for those aircraft.... Thx ! It will be Ryanair or CDG. I...

Re: Air Belgium in 2023
I hope it's readable: The title is wrong: Air Belgium doesn't scrap ALL passenger flights, it scraps only SCHEDULED passenger flights. ACMI flights can also involve passengers. And most of the Belgian press, either Flemish or French, makes the same mistake. Yes, because nobody will be able to book ...

Re: Air Belgium in 2023
I talked with Miqvell some time ago : but I personally had the idea of making KF the "lil leisure sis" of SN, with LH taking them over. KF could have more "exclusive" routes with feeders done by LH Group, including SN. SN and KF could be co-existing on some routes without the sa...

Re: Lufthansa from September 2023
The point is: "Why does Lufthansa feel the need to operate under three different brands (or even 4 with CityLine), each one with its own AOC, when SN is happy with one single brand and AOC?" Wouldn't SN do the same if it had the same size as Lufthansa? I bet they would. But, with 40 AC in...

Re: Lufthansa from September 2023
For me, the three-brand strategy remains difficult to understand, when Brussels Airlines, part of the very same Lufthansa Group, does all this with a single brand. This enables SN to use the same aircraft in the winter for business travellers and in the summer for holidaymakers. Lufthansa has plent...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
New aircraft need less maintenance and use less fuel, which in turn improves the financial results. But you all know this. That's probably why there are still lots of "old" aircraft flying around the world in airlines making profit... ;) Your statement is a little bit too simplistic. Just...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
I do remember once flying on a Thomas Cook Germany (now called Condor) aircraft coming from Stuttgart after the scheduled Thomas Cook Belgium A320 went AOG. I also regularly see exchanges of aircraft between TUIfly Belgium and TUIfly Netherlands in case of problems. Why can't such operations take p...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
What an incredible situation. That raises two questions on my side: Why be part of a large group like Lufthansa if the Group is unable to help in case of difficulties? - When does SN help other airlines in the group? - How do other airlines from the group could help? Do they not need their own meta...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
Of course night flights have to do with market and business opportunities. You have a central airport of the country designed to serve to main routes and this should closed by night. This comes at a cost of opportunity for airlines playing anyhow the fair game of social rules. At the same time 50km...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
Narrow bodies are OK for short/medium flights but I find wide bodies more pleasant to fly, especially for long haul. They give me a better feeling of comfort. For example, I'd even choose Air Belgium operated A330 for a RAM flight to Casablanca. It all depends on the cabin config. Not only on the A...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
Either they knew and shouldn’t have boarded either they missed the slot and got a new one two hours later. I am absolutely sure if flight planning calls CFMU and explains an aircraft, without an APU, just missed the slot by a couple of minutes and now has to wait two hours with 45 degrees inside, w...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
True, but in that case a simple call from the flight planning department to CFMU (central flight management unit of Eurocontrol) explaining the exceptional circumstances would, almost certainly, have solved the problem. External circumstances didn’t help, but his flight has been badly managed by th...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
Right. So if the APU fails outstation, just leave the aircraft there. Period.
Perhaps those airports where 40°C temperatures are not uncommon should get their air-conditioning working too...?

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
I cannot agree more… since around 2014 cockpit crews have been instructed to turn the APU on when the pushback clearance is being given… at the earliest (MH sector, not LH). This in order to save money. Pilots not complying can face an « interview » with the fleet manger sooner than later. And this...

Re: Closure of Niger airspace following coup d'état.
Africa is really a challenging continent for airlines. You need the Brussels Airlines experience (inherited from Sabena) to find your way in all circumstances. While not questioning the expertise of Brussels Airlines on this continent, what makes you think other airlines would not be capable of dea...
