Re: Lufthansa cabin crew set to strike
Been there with Lufthansa already, and even their strikes are pretty well organised....: this will mostly impact intra-German and intra-Schengen flights with high frequency. This enables them to rebook passengers a bit more easily and no issues with passengers lacking proper visums to stay over in a...

Re: Luxair loss in 2011
Well, many reasons why they suffer: strange network strategy, higgh staff costs, low productivity (I see their planes more on the ground than in the air), and increasing competition, even from their own shareholder Lufthansa who competes with them on the very busy Munich route. And there is more com...

Re: Brussels airlines future and financial perspective
Hi Flaker, what about a 15-20 minute flight Lux-Fra where you get the choice (in economy) of some 8-10 different newspapers, a full drink round with any type of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink and a hight quality (e.g. freshly made roastbeef) sandwhich? On longer routes (e.g. Madrid) in economy st...

Re: Brussels airlines future and financial perspective
The best example of "expensive and high quality airline" Flanker is supporting we have here in Luxembourg: good old Luxair, flying passengers on very very expensive tickets around Europe in Bombardier Q400 and Embraer Eurojets: guess what? They are aslo deep deep in the red, and if it wasn...

Re: Brussels Airlines new service in b.flex : doritos ?
Hi FWC, how many times do we need to repeat it: we pay for schedule, schedule, schedule and flexibility, we give a rat's ass as to catering on short-haul flights in Y .. Yes, if it is a cost-cutting measure, it shows they have some smart people at SN, and I'd rather prefer they take away a hardly ea...

Re: Brussels Airlines new service in b.flex : doritos ?
Another thing about catering on planes, and to put things in perspective: I am 36, and have been a corporate traveller since I am 24, with weekly (multiple flights). When it comes to catering, I have seen with myself a change over the years (wisdom comes with age, I guess): 1) While in the early yea...

Re: Brussels Airlines new service in bflex - doritos ?
Corporate travellers of medium to large-sized companies don't use LCCs a la Ryanair, not for the lack of all fancy tricks or lack of image, but just because they don't fly where we want them to fly at the time we want them to fly. Additionally, even if they would work on this, price-wise they start ...

Re: Brussels Airlines new service in bflex - doritos ?
We indeed check schedules in all details, all to avoid additional hotel nights. A short-notice hotel night in a mayor European business city (AMS, London, ZRH, Milan) sets you back at easily EUR 300 per night during the week (and no, we are not talking about Hyatt or Four Seasons here, we talk about...

Re: Brussels Airlines new service in bflex - doritos ?
OK, as a short-haul European business traveller (over 60-80 return flights a year intra-European, most on KLM/AF and LH-Group (Luxair, LH proper, SR, OS), and 90% in Y-class), I can only confirm that me and my colleagues do not give a slightest importance to "meals" in economy Y. Fly with ...

Ukrainian??? I just did Frankfurt-Kiev-Almaty with them, and I can assure you:
1) never again
2) no gloves at all
3) smoking hot? You mean the airco?
4) For the rest I was in the safe hands of Miss Ukraine Overweight and Grumpy 1977

Re: Turkish Airlines set for Kigali
well, those who doubt about the comfort of a narrow-body: I just did Frankfurt-IST-Baku with Turkish on both their A321 (brand-new) and their B-738 in economy, and I can only say, fab flights and fab service. Even personal IFE on their A321, best Y-class meals in years, overall a much better experie...

Re: which carrier to BKK?
Done many flights to BKK and or SIN on many carriers, and came to the conclusion that: 1) to leave from your closest airport (in my case LUX and in your case BRU) and 2) avoid a Middle East Hub and opt for the long way out from Europe is the easiest option and well worth a bit more money. I got tire...

Re: brussels airlines to Singapore via Lufthansa codeshare
I was on the SIN-MUC flight last week Sunday and it indeed carried the SN flight number. Suprisingly very good LH service in Y class in their A340, much better than Swiss on their A340s long-haul.

Re: Low Cost flights in Japan
Only one word: Japan Rail Pass... No need for internal flights (only if you plan to go to Okinawa or Sapporo). Tokyo-Osaka: a shinkanshen nearly every 20 minutes (remember, this is over 500 Km), and it takes about 2.5/3 hours. Take a railpass for the Green Car, first class, only a littke bit more ex...

Re: OS improves inflight experience, including meals
I flew yesterday NRT-ZRH-LUX with LX in Y, and the cabin crew told me that as off 1st December this year, LX will also drastically improve their catering long-haul in Y, meaning a second full hot meal. Now you have a rather basic first hot meal, ice cream at mid-flight and a vile hot meat sandwhich....

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
Again, we pay high prices for flexibility, not for a glass of champagne, which I buy for EUR 15 at Auchan here in Luxembourg. We are a 3,500 person financial group, only our CEO is allowed to fly C in short-haul Europe. Even board members fly Y. Again, flights TATL and +5 hours, everyone flies C, ev...

Re: Etihad wins world leading airline award
I did last year Frankfurt-Abu Dhabi-Manila in C and return in Y with Etihad. Positive: the lounge in FRA is just fantastic, pure luxury, good food (ala care), champagne, you name it.. Very stylish as well. Flights in C: bwa... seat is very strange, hardly any storage, but did allow for good sleeping...

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
Indeed, as to taking C class when it is only EUR 100 more expensive than Y, you just don't want to do that, you get your compliance calling you next day. Hey, somethimes C-class can be cheaper than the most expensive Y, so that could be a green light, but still you'd better be well-documted and prep...
