Re: Brussels Airport Runway 02/20 gets a new name: 01/19
If the magnetic north keeps moving, even if it's only a few degrees, can it move so much in the very long term that runway 25/07 would eventually become runway 16/34 (a 90degree change compared to the 'original' magnetic today) even the runway will still point in the same direction ??

Anniversary on TV?
Besides the news broadcasts which will undoubtedly speak about the 10 years anniversary, does anyone know about other programs on TV today (extra news, documentaries, etc) concerning the collapse of Sabena?

Why would any airline buy a 748 ?
Why would an airline buy a 747-8 if Boeing has the 777-300ER available (roughly same capacity?)? Surely twinjet consumes less fuel and pilots can fly on the smaller 777-200 as well...

Former long haul destinations ex BRU
Anyone have a link to a website where you can see all longhaul destinations with flights to/from BRU in the past?
I remember Asiana, Thai, Singapore Airlines, Air Mauritius, AirLanka, VASP, etc etc used to fly into BRU,
Can anyone add to this list?

What sponsored pilot cadet training schemes are available?
Hello,
Just wondering, because I really want to do this, do you guys know of airlines (world wide) who accept pilots with no flying experience at all for a sponsored training? I know AF does it, but I am one year too old for them, also CX, but you have to be a resident in Hong Kong to be able to ...

new name??
Let's hope they come up with a better name than SN Brussels Airlines... that horrible name must have been the worse marketing move in aviation history! Sabena would indeed be good, after all it stands for Belgian aviation in Europe and beyond. If that name returns, many people abroad won't even miss ...

Boeing 777 wingtips retractable??
Hello all, maybe one of you can tell me if this is true or not, in a dutch book called 'Moderne verkeersvliegtuigen' (=modern passenger planes) I read that the 777 can retract its wingtips in order to make its wingspan smaller at crowded airports. I have seen many 777's at many busy airports, but ...

for B744skipper
Actually, it was time for the 744 combi. It's not too big, KLM operates the biggest fleet of 744 combi's in the world, and they have about the same pax capacity as the A333 currently operated by SN, but in addition to that they can take 6 cargo pallets. SN would have no trouble filling an aircraft ...

end of rumours: no 744 for SN
There have been rumours about SN BA wanting to acquire Boeing 747-400 pax/cargo planes for use on the African routes, and this possibility was indeed investigated (I can assure you from a reliable source) but rejected because the training costs for crews etc would be too high compared to the ...

Why isn't gear retracted during 1st flights?
Hello,
It's always the case with first flights, the gear isn't retracted immediately like after a normal take off, we just saw it with the A380. What is the reason for doing so?
Enzo
