I would not be surprised if Boeing will look to Easter Europe for a low end replacement for the 737 (70-90 seats). I mean the Sukhoi/Alenia program. What do you think? :?:

I think you need a good blessing because you've been very unlucky :D . I flew hundred of times with Alitalia and is a la par with all the other European airlines. Better than the Americans and worst than the Asians.

For aiplane flying for the first time it is easy to predict the aerodynamic behaviour, but something else is to check it in a real flight. That's why in the A380 case it was retracted only at 10000 ft, after the crew made the necessary checks and got a feeling of the aicraft.

I flew BA 757 the first time in 1985 and the inpression I got I still remember. Very long cabin and spacious. 31 minutes flight.
One of the last times was SJO-HNL with AA, 5h16 minutes flight. Very confortable airplane.

The 717 is based on the DC9 design also, but the cockpit and every single piece of electronics, wires and system have been totally redesigned and new technology engines added.
I would call it a new model!

Italian industry is Alenia, Augusta, Aermacchi, etc and they don't have anything to do with Alitalia. Alitalia is an airline supposed to offer a service of good quality and cost. If it does not, than let somebody else do it.

Pride in an airlines may be was good years ago, when nationalistic values prevailed. But today who cares about the name of the carrier if the service is good! Why, as a tax payer should I shoulder the cost of a fancy, but inproductive, airlines?
