Yesterday's copy of Flight International says that so far they have not found anything wrong with the actuators or the hinges of the rudder on the Air Transat plane. And no pilot-related rudder movement either. Basically, in their own words, the investigators still have no idea! They have not found ...

Flight recorder and rudder movement

Initial examination of the flight recorder has revealed that there was no movement of the rudder during the period prior to seperation.
Investigators are now having the entire vertical stabilizer removed from the aircraft for examination and testing.

Even though there is no indication that this was in any way related to the structural failure (above and beyond critical limits BTW) of AA587, it's funny to see people jumping to conclusions.
