Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
OO-SFF will go to MAN on Friday for C-check and OO-SFC will return home on Friday. D-AIKG did a test flight on the 29th of April but still not confirmed when the aircraft will be ferried to Brussels. And if it is not enough, OO-SFX, A330 had AOG at BRU. OO-SSN, A319, is parked. No idea why as it wa...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
OK, mentioning Easyjet because it starts flying to West Africa was a mistake because, so far, they will only fly to Cape Verde. As to your comparison Beerschot/Haaland I think you missed my point. I am not suggesting a 777X for SN, "just" the A321LR to increase destinations and frequencie...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
If you see the expansion plans of EasyJet it is again obvious to me that SN needs A321 long range to increase destinations and frequencies (trafic rights permitting) to Western abd Central Africa. Seriously? What on earth do the plans of easyJet have in common with SN operations to Africa? You’ll p...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Still @obe, the time of loss making State owned airlines is indeed over. Look at Aegean, LOT and now even TAP. Time has done some clean up.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
If my memory serves me right, Swiss was loss making and desperately looking for a partner. LH was very intereted and bought it. SN's shareholders were so naive in the end in their selling strategy that a smart LH managed to buy it for peanuts. It allowed them to sideline competition at BRU at a mini...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I agree. But the Big Boss never had good intentions with SN. Past or recent declarations were just a smoke screen. His "sergeants" will never disagree with him. If you see the expansion plans of EasyJet it is again obvious to me that SN needs A321 long range to increase destinations and fr...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Thank you for having taken the time to write such a long explication (to a layman). And thank you to aviation24 and this forum for making this possible.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Tell us when approximately please. 2030 ? In the meantime the airline does not make the profits it could make if it had less fuel consuming aircraft.oldblueeyes wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 06:38 Who says this?
It is a first allocation from group deliveries.
There is more to come with the phase out of the 319.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
It is not that I don't believe you, obe, but I find it fantastical from IAG to include Air Europa in their list of "member" airlines when they own 20 % only of Air Europa and unethical to do so when the full acquisition is still under investigation. I hope, for competition reasons that thi...

Isn't the acquisition of Air Europa still under investigation by the European competition authorities ?

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I agree with Jovan2. Whenever I may/can fly business class, I avoid SN (and perhaps also LX). There is indeed a holiday airline mindset among most SN cabin crew (maybe due to management and training). @Duke : you must have been luckier than me or the service has improved. One can always hope. It's b...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
Reopening the Satellite for aircraft and dis&embarking pax could be done in two ways imho. Either a minor renovation and dedicate it to low cost carriers ? Or a stylish renovation for full service airlines. Hey, Mr CEO ! Think of the return on investment from the rentals of the shops and food ou...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The absence of a divider curtain is not justifiable. As said by another member, all other non low cost airlines have it. It cannot be a major/expensive investment. It is, in my opinion, a question of respect towards high yield customers. SN's business class on the A319/320 is also far below average ...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
So, building a large office building and an extra hotel are BRU's priorities ? I must have missed something or is BRU no longer a real airport (but a Business District) ? In the end, BRU will become like LIS, a nightmare due to a lack a of political and commercial vision. We will end up taking the T...

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean.
If you have time to explain it to a layman... (thx).
In any case, will Boeing still exist in five years from know ? They are in dire straits.
