Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
As to the future of business travel. Our organisation is active in 120+ countries, with repo office in 15+. Myself, for 20 years, I have been flying weekly, either intra-Europe or Intercontinental. We are all grounded now since March, zero flights. We foresee nothing until maybe next summer. But the...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
off course it is about profits… LH is a Dax quoted company… It is all about the dividend, and in LH case the underlying is airline revenue and profit. In that sense, CS did a great job the last years, he is in Germany hailed as great manager, running a very profitable dividend paying company… There ...

from a friend who works there .. in the meanwhile CargoLux (and other specialised cargo airlines) are making a killing. No more carge transported in passenger planes, so all 30 B747 are flat out, with cargo prices skyrocketing and fuel prices super low .. "De één zijn dood, de nader zijn brood....

Re: LOT Polish Airlines / PLL LOT news thread
seeing the continued economic boom in Poland I am not surprised that LOT is taking off big times. Local population has now money in the pocket and like to spend it ... Go to their big cities (Wroclaw, Warsaw, krakow, Gdansk, Poznan...) and watch the construction frenzy, enough said ... Watch the nex...

Re: Crash Ukraine Airlines PS-752 Teheran-Kiev UR-PSR (08/01/2020)
I am a regular user of Ukrainiain International Airlines, always felt safe with them, and service is actually good. A lot of new B737-800 in their fleet. If you look at the names of the passengers, nearly all are Persian, so consipracy is out of place here, why would they shoot down their own people...

Re: BRU Winter 2018-19: news, new routes, airlines
Aeroflot adds one daily flight to Moscow and will fly thrice-daily to Sheremetyevo from Winter 2018-2019. https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/aeroflot/aeroflot-thrice-daily-between-moscow-and-brussels/ Brussels Airlines remains at one daily flight to Domodedovo. A missed opportunity? A few years ago...

... FRA and MUC have 3 types of lounges, one for Frequent Traveller (so silver), one for Gold and Senator and one for Hon Circle .. For many reasons I avoid BRU to the maximum, so cannot fully judge the type of Star Alliance lounges they have, i was only once at the one that takes Frequent Traveller...

Re: Fast track security at BRU for M&M FTL
... Silver DO have lounge access in Frankfurt and Munich, as well in Zurich and Vienna ( I spend in one of the 4 at least twice a month). No fast track for Silver in any of these airports, so BRU is consistent with the rest. Zurich tend to be a bit flexible with Silver it seems for fast track and pr...

for those who can read Dutch, very interesting article on the topic in Knack today .. We may end of in a good ols school Belgian "wafelijzer" decision .. but for the public finances, bad for the airforce and a new token that this country is de-facto a confederation already ... http://www.k...

Good choice, kiev and wroclaw... Wroclaw is Poland’s 3rd biggest city, metropoll of some 600k people and IT boom-town ... Google, Samsung, Nokia, all have big operations there ... Bank of New York (see as well their ops in Brussels) and Credit Suisse employ well over 6,000 banking staff ... on top o...

... whatever happens Lockheed Martin wins ... if they want to extend life of the f16 we pay EUR 2 Bn to LHM .. After 7 years the Eurofighrer and Rafale are out of production or obsolete so only choice left is ... the F35 .... if I were the socialists I would definitely push for extension of the life...

I was blocked in LCY trying to go back on Friday with Luxair: 1) when I saw my flight was cancelled, I called Luxair and my phone was picked up straight away (and BTW, Findel was closed as well, so they had also many calls). 2) They told me straight away I was rebooked on the flight the next day, Sa...

Re: Which future fighter jet for Belgian Defence?
Cool making a business case by projecting some Belgian version of Top Gun, landing on the CDG which has spent 2/3 of its serviceable life in the dry dock due to faulty design of the hull and nuclear reactors (which were designed for submarines not carriers ). I think the CDG lost one of its propello...

well for the Rafale fans .. Let's see how the political parties of the North explain to their electorate that they have chosen a plane from a producer that decided not to participate into the RFP and lobbied its way in. Maybe somewhere else in Belgium they have already forgotten about "Agusta&q...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
Myself working in an industry where being owned as a subsidiary by a foreign entity is the norm, not the exception, I find the nativity of the Belgian public incredible. And honestly, I find that LH is still using a rather “soft hand”. IF you give away all the leverage you have over your owner, than...

Re: Which future fighter jet for Belgian Defence?
Rafale, just as the Eurofighter, are designs from the 80’ies. Yes, combat proven, but in 20-30 years obsolete. It is like buying a Ford Mondeo Diesel 2.0 TDI today. Perfect for today, outdated in 10 years. F35 is bugged with problems (such as the A400M, BTW) today. Belgian Defence is wise not to be ...
