Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
It’s a « mistake » in the press release, there is 1 A330 joining, 4 Air Baltic A220 as well. One A319 left the fleet. So the total is 4 aircraft extra this Summer, among them one extra A330 in own fleet BUT 1 A319/A320 LESS in own fleet.
It's not a mistake but rather poor wording. One A320 will ...

They can choose between the top 5 received in votes, so in fact it doesn't even matter what the public votes.

It's Summer season, but to give you an idea: the past 2 weeks there were on average 3 unsold seats. It's often overbooked (intended).convair wrote: 05 Aug 2024, 15:11 After 2 months of the resumed Nairobi flights, are there already some data on the load factor?

Re: BRU Winter 2025 - 2026: news, new routes, airlines
Brussels Airlines tried and failed. IMHO a few business jets a week would be enough to transport the diamond traders.
It did not fail. It was not loss making but not heaviliy profitable as well, but it didn't make sense to continue the flight as 'more profit' could be made on other destinations ...

Re: BRU Summer 2024: news, new routes, airlines
About the UK, Brussels Airlines will have 4 flight a day to London Heathrow with A320/A320neo, It was 3 times daily during S23, 4 times daily with a combination A319/A320/A320neo during W23/24 so it's quite an increase here.
Yes, but not an increase to be excited about. The sole purpose of this ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
That still doesn't really explain the 4 weeks timeframe IMHO.
TUI never took that long between the 1st commercial flight and the delivery of its brand new planes. That includes new types under the very slow BCAA.
We're speaking Airbus here, not Boeing.
Remember United receiving its first ...

Re: Cruise speed vs top of descent
So basically, if I want to sequence using speed control instead of vectoring, I need to first descend with a good rate and then reduce the speed.
If aircraft have to reduce their speed below a speed that is 'normal' for descent it would indeed be better to let them descend a bit earlier so that ...

Re: Cruise speed vs top of descent
If we have to reduce and maintain this reduced speed during the complete descent the top of descent will come forward. We'll have to start the descent earlier as we cannot descend as steeply as when we still had 300kts. Of course, this is when you follow an optimum glide with engines in idle. You ...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
Sadly enough it's not that abnormal, especially flights arrive here in peaks and even then, a flight that is 15 min early and one that is 15min late can cause a sudden pax flow. Waiting times at border control CAN be high in any part of the world and I have waited +1hr in several other 'civilized ...

Re: Flight planning question!!
It would help if you could provide your real life situation you were into. For ex. some airports close as from a certain hour, so if a flight is delayed it's possible that they depart with uncertainty/certainty if the airport will be closed by the time they arrive. In that case they just land at the ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
SN will not be considered a 'real' network airline as they won't expand the BRU hub a lot. SN will most probably only expand in Africa and if needed for Africa also in the US. That's it.They won't become a network airline like SWISS with destinations in most of the continents. That's why they call ...
