An airline needing one or two 100 seaters could certainly consider the 736 or A318 if they operate other aircraft from the families (commonality would be a great advantage).

On the other hand, if the fleet of 100 seaters is expected to be 10 or more it gets harder and harder to justify the extra 8 ...

There are production slots open for the 190 for early 2006 AFAIK. Current Air Canada mess means their orders will most likely be postponed.

As was posted on another 717 thread on A.net, if they want a 100-seat class plane NOW they will buy the 717. The economics on the 318 and 736 are hard to justify.

On the other hand, if they can wait a year they will go with the 190/195. The 717 is a good plane, but its a dead program.

Not sure what your source is, but the E170 did not have a gear jam. In that incident the pilot forgot to lower the gear. He reportedly thought he had blown some tires and only realized he was gear up when he deplaned.
