Off topic - but about Dutch. Mine isn't very good ... but improving (slowly.)

I understand that police in Amsterdam are frustrated by a 'toe licker' who's going around licking ladies' toes. Apparently, there's no law against it.

If you have a group of people who go around licking ladies' toes ...

Re: 'Stansted is too far from London' and 'the ferries are too expensive.'

Not *everybody* in the UK lives in London and the South East. If (as I do) you have a house in East Anglia (where the population is increasing steadily; population in the region has increased 30% in the last 30 years ...

Well, they got everybody out and they did so quickly. Some things went wrong, suggesting a need for further training. In the real world, things *do* go wrong and it's likely that Ryanair Cabin Crews aren't the only ones who might make mistakes.

How often do the passengers practice evacuation ...

>>Exactly the same with PVT's: is it really necessary to have a personal TV-screen on a 1h flight like Jetblue offers you? <<

Fly Ryanair ;) - You won't be distracted by a PVT and they won't add a hefty chunk to the ticket price to make you pay for things you don't want.

When I fly short-haul I ...

I agree entirely, Meerkat. I did my Master's about 10 years ago (4 years after I retired) and I'll let you know how I get on with the next one later in the summer ... In the meantime, I suppose I should get off the 'net and get down to revision ... finals are only a month away. :?

Well, I may or may not be as old as Andre.

My birthday is 31 May.

I was taught to fly by a gentleman called Wilbur Wright.

I'm not sure how 'meal preferences' would give anybody any indication of who is on board an aircraft.

When I fly transatlantic, I order either a diabetic meal or a kosher meal. I'm not Jewish, but the food I get is invariably better than the 'Chicken Ding' served as standard.

Similarly, passing ...

"No, the use of phones on planes is banned because they disrupt mobile networks on the ground. An airliner with 500 phones on board, whizzing across a city, can befuddle a mobile network as the phones busily hop from one base-station to the next. "

Interesting. I understood that the problem was ...

Apart from the obvious problems of nuking anybody - nukes are not politically acceptable; no country would want to be the first to use them - a nuke would have little effect against somebody in a cave inside a mountain. It would be poor target/weapon matching and the weaponeer would soon be out of a ...

Hello from Rupert

Hi. I'm Rupert. I live (variously) in England, Belgium and the US.
I'm a retired military (Royal Air Force) Navigator (I spent much of my life telling the chauffeur where to go ...) now doing something 'completely different.'

I commute(d) fairly frequently between Stansted and Charleroi (courtesy ...
