Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Let's all face reality.
Base fare at Southwest Airline starts from 79 USD upwards, base fare starts at Ryanair at 14,99 EUR. Whilst average sector length at Southwest is 20% longer at Southwest, the base fare is 4 times higher and average total revenue double ... we speak here about 160 USD vs 70 ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Without knowing the numbers and the figures, I tend to say that you are right in your latest post, crew1990.
Regarding the three 18-year-old A320's, I would say that I, myself, am disappointed to see that the latest member in the Group in getting newer planes (correct me if I am wrong) and again ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
You can't get meaningful judgments out of bias.
One old A319 has 141 seats vs an old A320CEO with 180 or, worst case 174. That's 20% more revenue seats vs around 10% additional marginal cost.
Is it ideal? No. Is it what Brussels can afford based on it's own performance. Sadly, yes.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
This would leave ITA with 4 A320 less ... I assume they will bring back into operation some A320neo then?
There seem 4 neo's in STD (long term storage, i.e. already more than 6 months).
Danny
Why are they storing neo's that are supposed to be less fuel consuming than ceo's?
It's as here ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The initial deal with Air Baltic was 2025-27. Now cancelled for 2027.
I would suppose an accelerated replacement of the 319, as in thier configuration they may not be very efficient.
Just a simple wave of further rationalisation.

Are you all sura that this is a replacement of the Air Baltic capacity, or could it be an accelerated replacement of the 319?

I am wondering why nobody is looking at TUIs strategy first. As this is a listed company, reports and investors presentations should be available.

Let's see first the economical data. Condors harholders are buying out the equity owned by the state, but at the same time they need a new partner to support to companys way towards a black zero.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
It may be more helpful to calculate the overall impact in euro and cent.
Let's assume the average consumption of a long haul sector is 55.000 Kg. And let's assume there would be no hedging effects, to see how much would really need to be added to the top line.
The price delta per sector only riven ...

Re: Lufthansa in 2026
The first aircraft to be delivered is D-ABTF, which is already flying and has the Allegris cabin already fitted. Likely it shall be delievered as soon as the 779 would be certified.
This implies that there are 6 pre-produced frames in discussion.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
You can do the math on what is going out and what is coming in by end of this year at Lufthansa.
Out:
- 4x346
- 2x789 to Austrian
-1x 333 (it goes in December as it should be the first one with the new cabin)
-3x 343
-1x748
Makes in total 11 planes.
Let's look on what comes in:
- 2X789 new already ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Well, could it be a positioning problem?
SN wants to be a network airline, not having neither the size for a decent feeder network nor an attractive long haul offering.
But it reacted allergic to the positioning of "old" Eurowings, which is in fact P2P plus leiure and not so heavy business ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
What if the answers are more straight forward than we think?
SN delivered a -7% profitability in the first 6 months. If you burn money, you have no money for expansion.
SN was barely profitable during the last years, the numbers were artificially improved with sales and lease back transactions ...

The question is, WHEN will Brussels Airlines finally leave that cursed LH group ??!!

There are always two views.
The country view is correct.
The business view is likely different. The question is - what would be the cost to increase market share and operate profitable under the circumstances that there are 4 major hubs around where counteraction comes at marginal cost?
