Re: Brussels Airlines in 2026
I had a good experience on C class with Brussels Airlines to LIS!
Big improvements I regularly get upgraded on the flight between Brussels and Frankfurt, which is very short. Back then, they used to give a sort of chocolate cake; now, even on this very short flight, they give you a breakfast.
I ...

An example: Sardinia.
They barely have flights to Sardinia when Olbia has both UA and DL flying B767's from 2027.
How can UA/DL have a daily B763 from NYC and SN can't even fly a daily A319 from BRU.
Lots of opportunities into Alghero and Cagliari as well as Ryanair doesnt offer a good schedule ...

Re: Emirates second hub
Seriously? Do you really think it could be cost-effective to base ITA crew in DXB, have them position to and from FCO, and give them their required rest before and after? Surely we can put this silly idea to bed once and for all, no?
So you either ran the numbers and found the answer, or you ...

Re: BRU Summer 2027: news, new routes, airlines
I find it hard to believe that AA cannot make a flight between the US and BRU work as the other major carriers there do (now it's down to DL and UA with all the consolidation).
AA’s odds of returning to BRU are good, if only because it does not have an unlimited list of destinations for its ...

Re: Emirates second hub
That has been prohibited under European law (EU465) since 2012, and EU law takes precedence over Italian law.
Then ITA's new flights from DXB will have a very low passengers-to-crew ratio (not entirely un-sarcastically)
Entirely impossible though as duty time would start/end in DXB.
I'm ...

All of this will take a lot of time so I assume one or more planes will be on the ground in winter/spring time ...? I have no clue how long the installation of the new interiors will take (per plane): guess one month or so?

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2026
I think that's far more complicated then it looks at first sight (operational, duty times, legal, cost, ...).
Using the same crew to fly an aircraft to maintenance and then ferry the previous one back to base is preferred, primarily because it eliminates any crew deadheading. The biggest ...

Re: BRU Summer 2026: news, new routes, airlines
Just as side note. Travel demand from Belgium to The States, and especially New York, dropped with 20%.
Is that based on total enplanements from BRU to NYC, or trips originating in BRU only or some other data?
Overall, it is factually correct to say that less Europeans are visiting the US, but ...

I doubt that the 321XLR is a real priority at the moment. My arguments would be following:
I actually agree with most of your arguments. If you read my post in the context of the post I replied to, there may be room for the A321XLR if Lufthansa makes it part of its fleet strategy, and the pre ...

Tbh, I find $400m for just training planes a lot of money and unsensical.
When the budget is approaching the $14 billions mark, another $400 millions isn't that much. More likely, they will initially be used for training as SNC doesn't have the capacity to refurbish seven aircraft concurrently ...

If BRU can build more gates for the morning bank and the pre-clearance facility, the A321XLR makes sense. Destinations like MDW, BOS, PHL, LGA, or MIA would be worth considering.Matt wrote: 06 Nov 2025, 15:05Could indeed be interesting for SN for potential transatlantic routes.

Amazing that this got the media attention that it's getting.
