To monitor. In response to the Ebola outbreak in Uganda and the DRC, Rwanda has closed its border with the DRC. Rusizi (near the DRC) is a tourist destination, and Volcanoes National Park is near Uganda. https://www.newtimes.co.rw/article/35734/news/health/rwanda-on-alert-as-ebola-outbreak-is ...

Qatar Airways won't be returning to Kigali before September
It looks like Qatar Airways is very slow to resume flights after the Middle East crisis sparked by Trump. Emirates and Etihad are acting much faster.

Salamair flights are no longer available for booking. They were not available on the airline's website, but on other booking platforms. Has the airline reversed course (even though there haven't been any official announcements)?
Well, finally, the flights are scheduled to begin on July 21, 2026 ...

Re: Air Transport in Africa Outlook - 2026
As surprising as it may seem, Brussels Airlines is arguably the best performing airline in Europe to serve Sub-Saharan Africa, despite being the smallest of the airlines if we talk BA, AF, KL or TAP. SN closed Bamako in 2010s and Luanda last year. But it has opened Accra, reopened Nairobi, will open ...

Re: RwandAir & Rwandan Aviation News 2026
I confess I'm a bit confused. SalamAir is launching flights to Kigali starting September 1, 2026, twice a week. In 2018, Oman Air planned to serve Kigali within a few years, then SalamAir was slated for 2024, then Oman Air again for 2026, and now it's SalamAir once more.

If the Brussels Airport website is right, Emirates will come back with one flight per day.
Also some flights to Doha would restart. Many are still canceled (second to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, ...)
However, even with flights restored, I think many people will avoid the Middle East anyway, so few ...

Air Algérie inaugurated its Algiers-Kuala Lumpur route on 29MAR26 with an A330-900. The flight was full. Apparently, there is very high demand, mainly from Algerians going on holiday to Malaysia. Algerians do not need a visa to travel to Malaysia.

Re: Air Transport in Africa Outlook - 2026
Sean Mendis is always well-informed about Ethiopian Airlines. In addition to its order for five 777X Freighters and two B777-300ERSFs, Ethiopian will convert its six B777-200LRs into freighters. In the long term, they will have more than 20 B777F freighters (they already have 12 B777Fs). This is in ...

It seems that Air Congo wants to serve Brussels from late May 2026 or early June 2026. Paris and Dubai (when the situation will be better) are also in project. I guess they could use Ethiopian B787 as Air Congo is member of Ethiopian Airlines Group, because all DR Congo airlines (aircraft registered ...
