Re: Crashes and serious incidents/accidents in 2024
I just read United, Copa and some other major airlines grounded their Boeing 737 Max 9’s for extra inspection of the specific panel/emergency exit that caused the Alaska Airlines incident. But what about Ryanair and its Boeing 737 Max 8-200’s ? If not mistaking, they have this same extra emergency e...

Re: Air Belgium in 2021
As an outsider, how should I understand the fact Air Belgium is operating those A330’s for CMA and not owning them ? Is it to keep their cockpit crew “busy”, but not getting any (major) benefit except for invoicing crew cost ? Who is commercialy responsible for those aircraft - selling the cargo spa...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
As to the future of business travel. Our organisation is active in 120+ countries, with repo office in 15+. Myself, for 20 years, I have been flying weekly, either intra-Europe or Intercontinental. We are all grounded now since March, zero flights. We foresee nothing until maybe next summer. But th...

Re: Impact of the coronavirus crisis on aviation
We see most airlines storing for undefined periods their A380’s. Or even withdrawing them from service. Presumingly because they are too big / costly for the low current passenger demand. Anybody knows what happens with most 748 PAX fleet ? FR24 shows some activity of the LH fleet, what is so differ...

Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2019
Thanks Poiu, as written in my message for the careful reader, I wrote “any other place”. I could imagine countries such as Spain, Morocco, some regions in the Middle East perhaps or even UAE would be more suitable...

Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2019
Is there a reason why TUI does not yet decide to store its 737 MAX aircraft in a more airplane friendly climate, such as e.g. Moses Lake or any other better ( warmer, dryer ) place than BRU ? I might imagine they could get approval for ferry flights, no ? As it seems this type of plane will not be a...

Re: Boeing 737 (MAX) news
We do not provide cash compensations neither, but try to find a mobility solution for our customers so that they can keep driving and getting from A to B. Boeing could do that as well, but this might cost a fortune, seen the number of planes and duration... But so e.g. TUI pays for the lease of thos...

Re: Boeing 737 (MAX) news
I wonder if Boeing provides or pays for replacement planes for concerned airlines. Working for a car manufacturer, in such cases, we provide free replacement cars of approx the same size, whatever the cost. But I can imagine this would cost Boeing billions... Anybody knows what they offer ?

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
So that is one and a half active out of four, right ? Cannot be sustainable, can it ? And what with those crew members, can they cope with almost no flying time ?

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
I understand Air Belgium stopped offering scheduled flights, at least for now, and concentrates on ACMI. But do we have any idea of the utilization rate of their planes, must be incredibly low, no ? Any idea in % ? Except for a few weeks AF and BA business, and some ocassional other missions, what a...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
Thanks, i did already many times, but IMHO, those pictures are not real. Do you see how wide the aisle is ? And the seats look like regular Eco, except with more pitch. I Think this is only an artist impression. Till now, I did not find any real picture of this separate cabin. Anyone has a hint wher...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
I still don't understand what the AB "Premium" product consists of. Eco seats with more pitch ? Regular eco seats with upgraded meal service ? Flat beds but reduced service ( sounds weird though ) ? If it is a separate cabin, any pictures one can share ?

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
Anybody any idea of the number of pax on the return flight ? And his flight seems to take quite long : 12h45 according to FR24, while the CX A359 HKG-CDG at the same moment, only takes 12h00 while being slightly further in distance. I compared a few other HKG- nearby BE airport flights right now, al...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
So it's the bargain of the season... No need to pay for Business Class. Buy an Economy ticket and get a perfect sleep on the 4 seats in the middle... I would not doubt if my agenda had HKG in the upcoming weeks... The late opening of booking facilities is one of the main reasons IMHO. Tourism and VF...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
Very nice and original livery indeed ! Wishing them all the best, and if fares are resonable, why not plan a 4-5 day trip to HKG. I visited the city about 20 years ago, flying LHR- HKG Kai Tak with a CX B744, with the famous final right turn approach. And yes, I was sitting at a right side window :0...

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
If, and I insist on "IF" the delay is due to the BCAA, this would be a real scandal, and I would be angry that part of the taxes that are withheld from my monthly salary would be used to pay such kind of people. That would be total abuse of their situation and power, and thus I sincerely h...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2018
I understand the remark that the schedule is not too attractive for MUC based business people. However, seen the fact you easily pay around €600 for a return ticket on dominant LH, there are as well a lot of companies looking at cost. Add a hotel night and dinner of around €200 to the VLM ticket pri...

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
I agree, and have been doing that as well. But these were exceptions. Here it would be every single time, or ? +, bussing around takes away from a real Premium experience, would you agree ?
