Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
Besides, do you think Lufthansa Group spread of multiple airlines would invest several hundreds of millions in new A333 cabins in the coming years for unreliable and old aircraft that are no longer competitive?
For some reason, we talk past each other... I do agree with most of your comments ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
Because it's simply irrelevant to the point being that there are huge subfleets amongst major airlines globally that are equally and often older in age than the subfleets of SN. If age would be such essential element in operational reliability to the extent as some members here claim (because of ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
Some numbers indeed, unfortunately highly biased numbers!!
You are comparing SN’s entire long haul fleet with the eldest parts of the fleet of other airlines, thereby omitting the, almost, new aircraft those companies also have in their fleets.
As a manager it’s absolutely normal to defend your ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
That clearly shows the SN fleet is NOT older than others'.
It clearly only shows that only if you gloss over the selective comparison. In the narrowbody comparison, RoMax consistently focused only on the older aircraft series in other airlines' fleet and coincidentally skipped the newer aircraft ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2025
If the age of SN's A330 fleet is not the cause of the (AOG) problem, what/where is the problem ?
I guess you do realise plenty of things can go wrong with an aircraft that have nothing to do with the age...?
The A330 is a realible and proven type. The A330-300 is an ideal aircraft for SN's ...

Re: BRU: monthly pax, cargo and movement figures
Let's be precise: looking at today's departures, there was an SN number on AC's to YUL; but not on UA's flights to ORD, EWR, nor IAD.
Same for UA's ORD, EWR and IAD flights arriving BRU. AC's flights from YUL arriving BRU have no SN code either for the next few days.
Yet those flights are ...

Re: BRU: monthly pax, cargo and movement figures
The UA and AC flights BRU-NATL are also sold under SN codes (e.g. on this seasons flights SN8801, SN8803, SN8807, SN9551)

Re: BRU: monthly pax, cargo and movement figures
It is good to know BRU has a project to promote itself as a HUB Airport.
Shift 27 I think is the name.
Just checked some recent PAX and transfer figures for some airport in BRU''s league.
November 2
VIE. 2.200K. 470K Transfer. 20%
ZRH. 2.190K. 694K. tr 30%
CPH 1.990K. 350K. tr 18%
BRU. 1.750K ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
kind of surprised by the United announcement:
New route: IAD-DSS :? I thought they wanted to feed SN a bit? or did I misunderstand?
Also a surprise to me. Dakar is among the most popular African destinations for SN. If one destination, besides Kinshasa, can be flown as a single destination ...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
Just this week Schiphol announced a new bus station, and Eindhoven a nice terminal expansion project.
Meanwhile at BRU... a new footpath at the taxi stand....
The new bus station at Schiphol was already much earlier announced. Aviation24 was weeks behind it with an article.
I'm sorry but ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Ryanair is an economic and ecological aberration!
Stupid comments on forums pollute more than planes worldwide.
Just saying.
You mean like one of the most competition distorting situations in all of European airline industry (Ryanair’s position in CRL), right. The only reason it still ...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
BRU is a disgrace.
One of the worst airports in Europe.
Only the Connector and Pier A look more or less up to date.
Rest is Sub standard. Ugly. Obsolete.Dirty.
Oh please... That's beyond a mere exaggeration.
There are certainly things overdue, mosyly the bus station and car drop off is ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
There isn’t any more space on the NEO, the opposite in fact, due to the lager bins, which are a nice addition, the NEO is a bit less spacious. Legroom is exactly the same.
In terms of seating it depends where in the cabin you look (compared to SN's standard A320)
- First row is the same
- Then ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
OO-SSA is back from the paint shop in East Midlands (EMA), now OO-SSB flew there for its paintjob (yesterday). Only 3 A319 left in the old livery. A bit strange since I thought 5 would leave the fleet to be replaced by the A320neo. Why repainting some when they will leave the fleet in a few months ...

Until there is some sort of special new opportunity that arises making anything outside of Africa or secondary North America suddenly a very attractive opportunistic opportunity, there is absolutely no reason to go into a new such very expensive adventure while leaving other more logical and very ...

Re: Lufthansa from September 2023
The history is more complex and you have to look back many decades.
Lufthansa had a leisure oriented brand - Condor. It was sold 20 years ago but it remained tied a little bit to LH as LH was offering feeder flights. As long as Condor was belonging to a travel group, there was no real competition ...

Re: Lufthansa from September 2023
I still see a major difference between the Lufthansa and Swiss subsidiaries: Swiss has only one leisure-oriented subsidiary, Edelweiss, which is flying both long-haul and short/medium-haul, whereas Lufthansa is multiplying brands: If Discover was initially meant to cover long-haul, it has also ...

Re: Lufthansa from September 2023
What is the difference, for instance, between Eurowings and Discover (or is it Discover Air) ?
Discover Airlines (4Y) had never much to do with Eurowings (EW) aside from the name and brand. Long haul under Eurowings (under EW management) was not working well and so LH decided to close that part ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2023
Imho, the only question to be answered is, why, inside a major group like LH, SN remains in the red ? Given the apparently low wages and working conditions, why is SN is still in the red ? I don't think
It is due to a lack if commitment of their Belgian employées at all levels.
Or you could look ...
