I didn't manage to follow the whole topic, but I do jump in once in a while. In the previous post I do want to correct something though. If you give that captain 20000€ brut more every year, he will stay 10 years longer and you won't need to ground planes to wet-lease other planes, which costs anoth...

And what about front park 3? If you are at the airport, go out at the departure level or arrival level and go to the utmost left parking. Go totally up and you'll have a nice view on 2 out of 3 runways. With a decent zoom, no problem at all! Also, from there you can walk to the treshhold of runway 0...

I've enjoyed flying on LOT before, and will be doing this again in October. Don't forget that stopping over in Warsaw, means having a look in their brand new terminal (departure wasn't open yet when I passed there in July, but should be open by this winter, I guess - maybe it is already), where you ...

A bus is out of question because there is the same problem with traffic jams and is more uncomfortable than their cars. It would take almost 3 hours to get to luxembourg from brussels, and vice versa. Probably the cheapest. Trains, as stated by eurojet, takes around 3 hours without delays, due to b...

This is a daily flight organised by Fortis Luxembourg (ex-BGL), shuttling their staff to Fortis Brussels and back. Dexia, KBL, ING, you name it, they have hunderds of people travelling every day LUX-BRU-LUX ... All by themselves, in their lease cars, or at EUR 0.40 per km ... Most will even stay ov...

Well, i was thinking i was the only one who likes the new concept of Brussels Airlines after reading posts on this forum. I'm glad that there are some others who like it too Count me in too. Thing is that people tend to be reacting bad when it comes to changes, they try to avoid it. I hop that they...

Frequent Brussels traveler pass
Here is a proposal for the BRU marketing department. BRU earns money on the airlines arriving and departing at BRU. They do a already good job attracting them. But airlines come if passengers are willing to come through Brussels. And BRU's income also depends on the amount of arriving/departing pass...

A small month ago I flew to Warsaw and back, and as I was always early in the airport, I had no problems with queues. It was the weekend of July 7th and still it was quite ok. 15 minutes in Brussels only, and 20 for security. Warsaw can be long on peakhours indeed, but that's because their new depar...

Or you use a system such as the San Francisco tramways use: A cable in the ground is being pulled at a constant speed by a massive engine, through whole the airport. This cable has hooks (underground). Planes, after they are pushed back by pushback trucks, lower a bar with another hook that connects...

Thank you Atlantis. Good figures indeed. Still, it is good to compare with the big players, to know where you stand!! Do you have figures from Zurich, Helsinki, Vienna,..? I agree, you need to benchmark yourself not only to the direct competition, but also to the marketleaders. As, for Zurich, Vien...

Concerning your idea, and as many other said, it won't be a feasible solution unfortunately. I agree, there are a few things I forgot to take into account. But there are indeed many possibilities. And thinking out of the box is the best one can do. Everything is energy, in a larger or lesser...

And I believe that there is a law in physics that states that this would only be possible in a prefect isolated system with no energy loss. I think that the amount of energy produced by the 'generator' can never be enough to keep the same machine in motion (but I'm no technician). True, that's why ...

Fuel saving ideas?
In this era, the most important thing for airlines is to reduce the amount of fuel used by their planes, as it is one of the most expensive things around these days. On top of that, saving fuel is also a good ecologist strategy, which makes it important in the eyes of the general public. And less fu...

Just from memory Atlantis : I believe in 2001 the airport accomodated around 21 millions pax. (BTW around 15 millions in 2006) And at that time (in 2001) it was considered to have a max capacity of around 30 millions pax if my memory is right. So there was place for some 50% trafic growth in 2001 a...
