Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2017
If I'm not wrong: the 2nd Dreamliner will be another 787-8 from another airline in the TUI-group and the new 787-9 will then go to this other airline, not TUI Belgium. I didn't say the 787-8 will be factory new, it will indeed come from TOM as soon as they receive their 787-9. That being said, the ...

Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2017
While all should be very enthusiastic about a brand new airplane type operating for a Belgian airline (yes, still OO-...), we start discussing registrations... If this would have been a brand new aircraft type for Brussels Airlines (unlikely for many years to come, as only second hand aircraft are g...

Re: Air Berlin in deal talks with TUI and Etihad
It is not the same at all! They just learned their company might be relocated to Austria under a different name/ownership with no guarantee that their conditions will stay the same (almost certainly will decrease) and worst of all, they had to hear it from the press instead of their own employer. Th...

Re: Jetairfly in 2016
And since those changes have an influence on the fleet utilisation, the flights from Antwerp to Berlin Tegel will be cancelled from July 2016 If equipment (737) becomes available from the Tunisia and Egypt destinations, why would they need an E190 from the ANR-TXL route? Or will they increase Spain ...

André, I'm really surprised by your post. ISIS has targetted Tunisia already several times and now tourists are involved. I would be happy to leave this place as you are not sure when it's your turn. You can continue sunbathing with both eyes wide open... As a touroperator I would be more at ease se...

Re: Tunisia hotel attack: Jetair & Thomas Cook bring tourists back
This is due to the fact that almost all pax on board of JAF (and probably TC) are in fact package holiday clients. Operating a flight for let's say 10 fly-only pax to NBE would be an economical disaster. All pax will be reimbursed according to current laws. This is not overreacting. The tour operato...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
New planes have technical problems as well, don't they? Like the Dreamliner f.e. ;-) It's not about technical problems but newer aircraft are more efficient due to production being enhanced. An a320 which is 12 years old, consumes more fuel than a new one. The C-check of a plane of 12 years old wil...

Re: Brussels airlines future and financial perspective
Remarkably, Brussels Airlines has not yet received the promised 15 million euros for security costs that will be paid through Brussels Airport. However, that amount is well included in the financial statement in 2013, which was adopted on 10 March and was deposited at the National Bank on 27 June. ...

Re: Continuous Descent Operations at Brussels Airport (pics)
CDA is almost useless imho unless the French, Germans and English cooperate. Starting a CDA from your cruising level down to the runway in idle power significantly saves fuel, but starting it from 24,000' or 22,000' with intermediate step-downs at 2000 fpm minimum is almost useless. It still leaves ...

Re: A first big problem (and delay) for the JAF 787 OO-JDL ?
A huge problem in bringing spare parts to Mexico is customs. JAF already used some private jets aswell in the past in Europe, but for this occurence it is a logistical nightmare. Deploying a charter flight from the US to Mexico involves a lot of paperwork, waiting for approval, etc... Once the spare...

Re: Abnormalities in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2013
@ Jan, it means the passengers at the original destination (TLV) will get another aircraft, which will take them to BRU. They will suffer a delay, but that is still better than a cancelled flight. Having a plane stuck in outstation means also disruption for days to come, causing more inconvenience t...
