I have flown 4 times to NRT since 2000 (via CPH, CDG, LHR and FRA). There were always some 20 passengers in transit to BRU like me. At the time Sabena was flying to NRT, it was always cheaper to fly from BRU to NRT via somewhere else. Sad, because I would have undoubtfully preferred a nonstop flight ...

Many people are very negative about SNBA and its future, but as it has been mentionned previously they posted a profit , even if it is quarterly. Simultaneously, an airline like Swiss is struggling for survival.

From what I understood Sabena flight from Tokyo to Brussels was marketed to Japanese customers flying to Europe. Because yen became weak, the revenues fell along and the route became unprofitable at a time when Sabena was starving for cash, so there was no other choice than to axe it. There many ...

It is really sad: SQ had been flying to Brussels since 1979 (!) and has been the longest serving long-haul airline in BRU. BRU is now totally cut from Asia (except Dhaka), from South America... :? I have met several persons that flew this SQ flight to go to Australia.

:) In fact if you see the numbers of AEA you can clearly distinguish "hub" airlines from point-to-point airlines. It does not come as a surprise that Finnair or Luxair post the same load factor than SNBA, these airlines basically rely on their home market. KLM, Swiss and BA rely a lot in transit ...
