This is a re-post of the previous message with the Airline Names padded with underscores to better align the table. Here are some standard economy seat statistics for B-777s in international service ranked by seat floor area. The percents are of the smallest ANA floor area. Data source: Seatguru.co...

Just as a matter of interest, Emirates' 777 seats are ten abreast in Economy, 3-4-3. They do have 33 inch seat pitch, which is a little better than many.

Perhaps Boeing has them tied down, but I read that Alenia is interested in being a risk sharing partner on the A350.

Not firm orders yet. From Boeing's announcement:

"...LAN Airlines, South America's largest airline, has announced its intent to acquire 26 Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Successful conclusion of negotiations would result in LAN booking the largest order of 787s to date in Latin America."

Yes, I agree. Another factor is that the power of jet engines allows airliners to fly at approximately 2 times the altitudes of even pressurized piston powered planes or higher. (I remember flying across the US in DC-6s and Super Connies at 18,000 ft) The air density at typical jet flight levels is ...

Yes, I remember the AA B747s. Here's a photo I took on a flight from LAX to IAD in 1971. There was a bowl on the piano filled with ice and cans of Michelob, which cost 50 cents on the honor system. http://www.stubchaer.com/AA.B747.1971.PS.jpg The 747s proved to be too large for AA and they were repl...

This may be the answer (from a NASA website):

"The futuristic airframe is a unique merger of efficient high-lift wings and a wide airfoil-shaped body, causing the entire aircraft to generate lift and minimize drag, thereby increasing fuel economy. "
