Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Specifically about Portugal: it would be nice to feed into TAP's long-haul services, but those go mostly from Lisboa Airport, which is heavily saturated, mostly due to the repeated delays in deciding on the construction of a new "national" airport. The decision seems to have at last been t...

Re: Sanicole 2024
Perhaps not worth a separate thread, but moderators are of course welcome to split off if they think otherwise: catastrophe exercise at EBLE. What or who is this OO-SPT? Looks like a Cessna 152? https://www.asa-be.com/images/PhotoGallery_BCR2/OO-SAA/OO-SPT.jpg https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2024/09/18...

Re: Air Belgium in 2024
Hm, I did not look in depth. Thanks for correction! I did find the French AOC, or what looks like it, on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CMA_CGM_Air_Cargo But what or which is the US'an one? And, nearer to the original subject: what could be the motivation for CMA/CGM to acquire what might ...

Re: Air Belgium in 2024
Perhaps the shipping company CMA/CGM wants to venture into air cargo since their big competitor MSC did the same with their subsidiary MSC Air Cargo?

"sub-saharan" is a recent addition to the international vocabulary. It is a eufemism for "black Africa" since this term is considered politically incorrect by some.

Meanwhile, the alert was apparently moot. Better this than the other way around.

Military action in Middle East air space 8 August 2024?
At least one Belgian state news channel reports that Egyptian authorities have requested their airlines to avoid Iranian airspace, because of possible "military exercises". Cfr. https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2024/08/07/iran-vraagt-burgerluchtvaartmaatschappijen-om-zijn-luchtruim-te/ Not wan...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Agreed to all that, @luchtzak. Still, if the current SN management were unable to make a profit from a flight almost fully occupied, I am sure aunty Lufthansa would soon find "others and betters".

I vaguely remember a story of a SABENA captain who flew that positioning EBAW-EBBR as his very last flight before retirement. The take-off must have been especially spctacular...

Re: TUI Airline in 2024
Several sources expect TUIfly to stop its entire flight operation in ANR until October. Curious if this is correct. Confirmed in state media: https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2024/07/29/tui-fly-verplaatst-alle-vluchten-vanuit-deurne-naar-zaventem-tot/ It is however not entirely correct to state that th...

Re: Anomalies in BRU-ANR-CRL-KJK-LGG-OST in 2024
What then is the sense of Pilots cannot order more fuel than the max capacity of the tanks That is the phrase that apparently misled me: it implies that pilots do order a quantity of fuel. BTW my compliments for your strong memory, but I no longer fly, not even ultralights, for medical reasons. And ...

Re: Anomalies in BRU-ANR-CRL-KJK-LGG-OST in 2024
And so apparently the pilots had taken too much fuel. Pilots cannot order more fuel than the max capacity of the tanks. Obviously. Be careful when making such statements. I do not think our friend Established02 has any need of that kind of warnings. Also, it seems obvious to me that he is well awar...

Within (western) Europe. Say a max of 600 or so kilometres from Milano, as the bird flies. Or in other words: any destination that is also reachable, in a reasonable travel time, by train. Brussels, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, Praha, Zurich, Wien, ... you name them.

Re: Alitalia saved by the Government and reborn as ITA Airways
I was not aware of the recent investments in the Linate airport (thanks for info!), these will surely push the closure further back in time.
Even so, excuse me for sticking to my point: Linate is a short-haul airport, and short-haul air travel in Europe is on its way out.
