Re: RR Trent 1000- Ten -900 Issues and News
This is quite a bit more info that I have been looking for. https://www.compelo.com/rolls-royce-what-went-wrong/ I can't imagine anyone making an RR choice on a 787 and the 797 if it comes to be is going to be GE for the safe and P&W for the more advanced engine. Stock is up, you have to love ho...

RR Trent 1000- Ten -900 Issues and News
I thought this topic was well worth having its own for, the issue is not only on going, its spread and into areas that might not be obvious (Trent 900) https://www.seattletimes.com/business/boeing-aerospace/troublesome-advanced-engines-for-boeing-and-airbus-jets-disrupt-airlines-and-production-lines...

Re: Boeing 787 news
Well we heard that on the 767 tanker program, its something like 1.5 billion in the red. That's another story! Not only is Boeing late, but the costs are likely to climb even more. If the U.S. Air Force had confirmed its initial choice of a reliable existing aircraft, the A330MRTT, they would have ...

Re: A350 Finally Leave Anchorage AK
As noted, they have done the cold weather testing. Also Alaska is in an extended warm fall period. Their usual testy area is Canada (deep in interior) any AK testing is done out of Fairbanks 400 miles to the North as Anchorage is not noted for its cold weather (we do get it but not typical) Other re...

Re: Boeing 787 news
Well we heard that on the 767 tanker program, its something like 1.5 billion in the red (some of our money most of it Boeings). One issue was wire separation, apparently clearly in the specs and totally missed. You do have to wonder under current management approach if they won't just keep lurching ...

A350 Finally Leave Anchorage AK
Its been sitting on the ground for almost a week (came in Monday I think) Swirls of activity then nothing all this last week. This time they had two fire engines at the left engine area, one other emergency vehicle and a couple of Police vehicles. Not track on it coming in or where it went. I didn't...

Re: Paris Air Show 2013 - Latest News
I had hoped that Airbus would not resort to something as irresponsible as to do a fly by with what amounts to an experimental aircraft on its third flight. Amazing.
Same ones who did the buzz some years back and took the thing into the trees.

Re: Paris Air Show 2013 - Latest News
What counts is firm orders so thats valid info, MOUs are just fluff. Also what counts is aircraft produced, not sales in the que (you get paid for a delivered aircraft). Boeing is ramping up to 14 787s a month as well as continue sale of the 767 that will be ramping back up as well. Question is when...

Re: Le Bourget 2013 - Sales Expectation
I think the most over-hyped even was the the so called sale of 20 of the A380s. Once you dig into the deal, its really a pass through with Doric. So, Leahy is spinning it as a success when in fact it masks the issue. Boeing has been proven right in that there is very limited need for those and their...

Re: A350 Travials
The -800 is being abandoned in droves. Its now not a lighter -900, its a shortened 900 with all the weight. 2 years delay and DOA. the two year delay to the -1000 means that there has been enough unhappiness with it to ensure a re-design. Shade of Version 1.0/2.0/3.0 of the A330 update. Boeing faile...

A350 Travials
Qatar is mad, and Emirate really unhappy and the -1000, and they are stuck with the frame now, nothing you can do to make it wider or longer. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/businesstechnology/2016349190_emirates29.html It looks like the 1000 is going to be an A340 (maybe stillborn). If you wa...

Re: Boeing to re-engine the B737
Engine will be a different model CFM than the A320 NEO. They don't have the clearance to go full size, so it will be in the 70 inch range. Tough call. And the NSA would have been a twin aisle I believe, maybe to be seen to initial fill the gap between the single aisle and the 787. As its setup to be...

Re: Boeing to Build 10 C-17 Airlifters for Indian Air Force
There are also 6 options, and I suspect those will be exercised. India needs more than just 10. I would think actually two or three full squadrons but that's pure speculation. Will see as time goes by. So far each buyer has been delighted with it, and orders more than they thought they would. Adds t...

Re: Boeing 787 and B748 nearing first delivery
I think Boeing stole the Paris air show. New 747s and 787 both. In numbers Airbus did as usual, the sand bag thing. Pretty much an A320NEO show though Boeing had some great wide body numbers to announce (and with the backlog at 5 years, what can they sell but NEO?) Maybe most interesting is the dest...

Re: Do Orders Mean Anything?
I think most airlines HOPE they know. Contracts may not allow it, but Boeing and Airbus will shift and juggle and adjust as much as possible. Anhoen remember the 777F Air France Parked in the desert? They sold those to FedEx. Frankly its like the sitation where travel agents block out seats, then le...

Do Orders Mean Anything?
While I am admittedly not an Airubs fan, I have begun to wonder about orders for them (and to a lesser degree Boeing actually having any meaning). Airbus more so because they cheat on the numbers up front, then hide the down sides as time goes by. The A320 NEO has hundreds of orders, but then would ...

Re: USAF Tanker Competiton - EADS vs. Boeing
I really the talk about a dedicated tanker. It would be an insane waste. All they do is fly around and pump fuel. As I recall Boeing did it first (at least in any scale) with the Stratocruiser, then the 707. DC10 and then the Airbus A300 (0r 310) has done it as well as the Brits with ????? Upshot is...
