787 vs A350 orders/mou
It seems like two ways of counting orders - aggressive at Airbus and conservative at Boeing: I think that this means that Airbus will have to advise the market of debookings in the future. For example, one Airbus order is for 100 A320 to a company that currently operates a fleeet of 7 regional turbo...

seems to me airbus has about 500 "orders" of this type on the books this year. it will be interesting to see what they actually turn into real orders.

the great 2006/2007 A330 give-away
Can't blame Airbus, they are in a corner and need to buy some time, this firesale discounting disrupts the dynamics of airlines purchasing decision process.

A350 or 787
That would be yet another body blow to Airbus small widebody position. They need to keep US Air, and I suspect they will do so by giving away the A350 XWB at great price, which is good for US Air. Would Boeing fight on price to be a spoiler? Likely, they will push the value down and then let Airbus ...

737 replacement
Fanciful thinking: What if Boeing cut 50 feet off the 787-3 and created a 787-2 and 787-1. If the -3 is to seat 290-330 persons, then the -2 could seat 240, and the dash 1 could seat 200. A new wing and engines. Now that takes the 757-200 replacement and also the 737-900ER, so the 797 can concentrat...

tehse guys have mastered learning curve
They will be succussful, selling an A300, with (A330-200 performance) at half the current price within 10 yaers is my bet.
Not a contender against the 787 or A350, but will kill the A330 and 767.
Good, China is a great nation of history, and they should contribute to the state of aviation.

A340 of Lufthansa
I would argue Lufthansa is making a profit on A340 routes beacsue they are a very efficient and competent airline. If they had 777-300ER - those routes would have to be more profitable - considering they would be lugging around 40,000 lbs less every flight.

too many A330 give aways
When Singapore and Quantas start taking all their 787's, the A330 secondary market will be brisk. I think the A330 will do well, since Airbus is pumping the market with them, making them good second air carrier selections, and also freighter and tanker conversions in the future. Airbus needs to do t...

interesting
considering UPS cancelled something like 30 A300 that were given to them by Airbus at low price, now they order 767. This indicates to me UPS slipped out of the Airbus A300 by ordering and then lkikely cancelling the A380?

Cathay must go from A330 to A350
If they opt for the 787, then Airbus is really hurting. I think Cathay is prime candidate for the A350, first to replace the A330 and then the 777-200.
of course, I am getting so far ahead, as cathay has A330 deliveries scheduled out for several years ahead.
Maybe they will also take some A330F?

A380F cancellation
It seems Airbus is playing games with cancellation announcements for the A380F from UPS, just like they did with the cancellation of the 37 A300's in 2005. There is no way to spin this as a positive. The A380F is moving into deep freeze. But they are doing great with the A330F, with Guggenheim order...

bring on competition and innovation
The big US carriers are tired, and encumbered with liability to angry employees with contempt for the customer. I say let Virgin breath some fresh air into US domestic service - currently filled with frowns, brown bag lunch of preservative laced junk food for USD 5.00, and old planes. Come on Virgin...

We will wait and see. But even being someone who thinks that this was a bad commercial decision, I am anxious to see this beast go into service, and expect it will be around in various iterations for the next 50 years.

Cathay has big committment to 777
I think they will focus on the 777 after the large contest they conducted for wide bodies last year. They will have more 777-300ER and less of a need to replace their 747-400 with A380 or 747-8i. They will probably order 8 or 10 7478i and some 747-8F freighters. Cathay seems to make selections and t...

if China places letter of intent
Boeing will not claim it is an order like Airbus did last year. That is why if you look justplanes.com order tally for 2005, Airbus tally dropped to like 800 after the dust settled. But if China places an order for 30 747-8i what a year for the Queen of the Sky and for Boeing widebody aircraft progr...
