Oasis have gone from 7 weekly flights to London (ie one per day) to 10 per week. This expansions takes the grand total of flights from all airlines on the London/Hong Kong route to 80 per week in each direction. That makes Hong Kong the third busiest longhaul destination from London after New York ...

Dragonair will join Oneworld as a affiliate of Cathay Pacific (Cathay now owns Dragonair) on 1st November 2007. This gives Cathay and Oneworld much greater access to mainland China. Together with JAL joining the alliance earlier this year, Oneworld now has superb coverage of E/SE Asia, and its major ...

It is a pity about Virgin America, but after seeing an analysis of Virgin America coming to the market, I beginning to side with American carriers, another company could eat away at domestic routes for companies that are emerging out of bankruptcy protection. I favor more competition, but if it ...

Not a good year for Airbus.

How do you figure that? Ok, they had their problems, but you they just had the 2nd best year ever in terms of sales and they never had a backlog this big. I wouldn't call that a bad year... (in terms of sales) It's a very bad year to make your second ever best sales ...

Airbus may have a jump start for 2007 as Air Asia is ready to confirm a big order.

Oneworld on an expansive roll

Oneworld on an expansive roll

Oneworld is by far the most awarded alliance and the only one of the three global airline alliances to turn a collective profit. However it has always lagged Star in size and even fallen to third place behind stitched-together Skyteam (Skyteam have always been the ...

^ 1 and 2 have not been seriously debated here. It's obvious that I do not dispute a commitment to either open skies or foreign ownership of US airlines. However point 3 is less certain. Virgin have already been using the airport for years (as Virgin Atlantic) and everyone in the US industry ...

Uh explain to me how Virgin America is Virgin Atlantic. I'd like to know how you come up with that one.

I didn't "come up with that one". You did. And like I said before it's not worth respondong to.

And the rest of your points are just the same as before - lazy and unconvincing. I have ...

Cageyjames I am not going to go through your comments line by line. Most of them are not worth responding to anyway - especially comments like "VA is not Virgin Atlantic".

However I will respond to a choice one or two. EasyJet did not merely copy what was happening in America. They were one ...

How do you figure competition doesn't exist in the USA market for air travel? We've finally hit a balance were airlines are starting to make money again and employees are getting bonuses. So rather than build on this sucess, we'll go back to bankruptcy.
What the US really needs to do is allow some ...

They have not been able to compete in California. Only long haul routes to JFK.
They are not based in California. Virgin America will be. As I said, price is the main driving factor in the USA. They can try but unless they are at the same price point as WN, they won't suceed out west. HP learned ...

^ Yes I am claiming that Boeing beat Airbus in both 2005 and 2006 separately as well as combined. I said it twice before and I say it again now. However I recognise that the 2005 figures are open to dispute. The main point of contention (as I have also said twice before....) is whether Airbus's ...

^ It's really very simple. You are skewing the figures to put Airbus ahead. However your methodology is clearly wrong so the point fails. Some of Airbus's 400+ orders for December 2005 really do belong in 2005 just as they claim. It's only those announced after midnight 31st December 2005 (ie in ...
